Stiller's Tropic Thunder Heating Up
Comedy Project Finally Getting Started.

January 12, 2007 - Production Weekly reports that Ben Stiller and DreamWorks Pictures are finally moving ahead with Tropic Thunder, a film which Stiller has been working on since 2003 (and probably longer). Stiller will direct and star in and wrote the script with Etan Cohen and Justin Theroux.

Stiller has previously said that the film is "a comedy about five actors who go on location and find themselves relying on their boot camp experiences when they get stuck in a real war-like situation." The actors find themselves in a big budget war movie in which "everything that can go wrong does" and where the actors become the commandos they are playing, the meaning of which is unclear. They either become frustrated to the point where they become whiny, demanding divas or the trauma of the setbacks induces a weird Hollywood psychosis where they believe themselves to be actual commandos in a war. Either way, there's good times to be had.

The site says that principal photography is scheduled to begin in July.

If this has the same quirkiness and stupidity as Dodgeball and Zoolander I'm instantly there. Two of the dumbest comedies in this last decade that continue to make me laugh twice as hard as the previous viewing. I'm hoping the story goes the route of the latter part of that paragraph, where the trauma makes them flip out and believe they are actual commandos on this war set.

But since your here and this thread will be dead for the next two years, here's a "what if" for you: Angel theme to Buffy?.

My thought: Fails. Angel > Buffy.

Double-Edit: Oh shit, Original Unaired PILOT for Buffy. I forgot how bad this was. Alyson Hannigan was such a better Willow. I'd have to second the Youtube-user who said they'd agree with Cordelia. That other chick sucked. Haha.

Dude the Smallville one was horrible. Albeit mostly because of the crappy text and stupid smashing screen graphic or whatever it's called.

The Angel one was pretty cool because the music fit the theme better. But they need to sync it with the frame switching.

Original Buffy theme > any ripoffs.

Now go find the buffy theme imposed on other opening credits, haha.

EDIT AGAIN: Wow that Willow is horrible, haha. Hannigan was nothing to look at either but she was better than this.

The Angel theme only works on one show and that's Angel. It failed with the Buffy vid. I'm still laughing at the original Willow, especially the scene where Buffy tells her that her dress is fine.

LOL... Friends theme to Buffy. That one's classic.

Shit, I could spend all night looking at this stuff. There were a lot of cheesy ones, and some that weren't too bad. There was one that had the goosebumps television theme for Buffy, which wasn't bad, then I found Are You Afraid of the Dark and have been looking for all the episodes since. Childhood memories. Kids these days are missing classics.

Shooting is set to begin in July.

I wish Ferrell and Vaughn would sign onto the project. I still miss "Are You Afraid of the Dark". Angel is still > Buffy. ALL.... Fact!

I like the concept, sorta like Apocalypse Now meets The Three Amigos. Stiller's movies may not be Oscar masterpieces, but I'll be damned if I don't laugh a lot.

No seriously, I don't like Ben Stiller but I'm really looking forward to this movie, even the though the teaser is hella weird. Plus we get to see Cruise play a fat bald business man.
