Granted, some text is unnecessary, but at least it's better than the complete lack of story, thus leading you to even more confusion.
Agreed. Shadow Dragon is so utterly confusing. I have little idea what I'm doing or why I'm doing it. I'm a loser with time so I don't mind reading the text. I kind of play the maps just to read through the text.

re: Looking Back: Who Remembers...?

All you need to know about Shadow Dragon;

Marth is chased out of home to neighbouring island kingdom.
Marth gathers people and goes to help his fellow good guys.
Marth takes his home country back.
Marth invades the enemies.
Marth gets the Sword of Plot Advancement.
Marth goes and kills some dragons and confesses love to the hot princess he moved in with after he got kicked out of home by enemies.

The Neoseeker described at the start of this thread sounds like the time just before I joined. ):

If I ranked FE games...

FE7 > FE9 > FE6 > FE8 > FE4 = FE10

I'm sorry, I just could not get to grips with 4. ):

re: Looking Back: Who Remembers...?

Don't blame you, 4 is stupidly Gude Dang It.

... Even moreso than the other FEs.

Outside of hacking, 7 > 10 > 8 more or less = 11 > 9.

Hated PoR, I'm sorry.

(This isn't a massive insult to 8 and 9; 11's fairly decent as a strategy game, it's just balls in terms of graphics and plot.)

re: Looking Back: Who Remembers...?

Too bad plot is what makes me at least want to play the game. It's not a surprise that the game wants you to kill off characters for sidequests - None of the characters have much of a personality anyway, they're just random peons.

And you really hated PoR? I thought it was one of the better ones.

7 > 9 > 10 >/= 8 >/= 6 > 11

I've played bits of 4 & 5, but never could really get into them. 6 was somewhat broken & I found it much more difficult to play, so I rank 8 above it. Although it should be noted that 10, 8 & 6 are marginally separated. 7's in a league of it's own, & even 9 I feel is better than everything below it by a somewhat significant margin.

re: Looking Back: Who Remembers...?

9's chapters took way too long and were too prone to ****ing me over near the end for my liking.

Which is a shame, because it had an excellent support system.

re: Looking Back: Who Remembers...?

The chapter that always messed with me was the bridge chapter, which was significantly easier in 10, but nevertheless, I had to restart much more than I'd like to there.

Based on chapters fielded together rather than proximity? Yeah, that was a good idea, too bad they totally scrapped it for the sucky, but much more player convenient FE10 system of one support, whoever you want paired.

4 has been my Favorite for a long time. HATERS D:

4 > 7 > 5 > 6 > 9 > 2 = 10 > 8 > > Shadow Garbage...errr...11.

2's placement is not a mistake. I genuinely found it more fun then 8 + Shadow Dragon, and as fun as 10.

I'd agree with that. This was magnified by the fact that I have fairly limited time to play console games, and restarting the GCN constantly really ticked me off.

This, and the fact that FE10 was just oddly done in several ways, led to my never really getting into FE10.

re: Looking Back: Who Remembers...?

I enjoyed 8 because it had pretty maps, & is fairly easy to just pick up, play a chapter, & then not play for a while. Without mandatory monster chapters, it would've been so much better. Even the Tower & Ruins were unnecessary. But it was solid. Although other than the class system, which Intelligent Systems has yet to produce one as versatile, FE8 really wasn't an improvement from 7. The graphics were better, but beauty is only skin deep - I didn't really care for the lords or any of the characters except Forde, since he was slightly humorous. Even the minor, forgettable characters in 7 seemed to have more personality than some of the more major ones in 8.

Yeah, that was kind of a hassle. FE10's story system was interesting, although I would appreciate it if they never did it like that again, especially considering by endgame, all the characters you spent time leveling up are outclassed by every laguz lord ever, so it's kind of a dumb idea to use most of them. 3 tiers was way too much, it was essentially two anyway, since besides the dawn brigade, so many people came promoted anyway. Other than the odd style, I loved 9 & 10's plot & characters, although the nuances in gameplay made 9 significantly more enjoyable. Since it took the good plot depth that 10 had only it was simpler & more straightforward & traditional of a Fire Emblem.

Psh, I killed him off in the prologue. I like to keep it original.

... It's only original because Intelligent Systems were too scared of unleashing Frey's raw BADASS too soon.

Frey is one of the 84 cavaliers you get in Shadow Dragon. Comes in the prologue with Abel & Cain.
