In other slightly on-topic news, I started playing FE6 again. For reasons I'll never know. & I'm compelled to finish FEDS, even if I have absolutely no idea what's going on, other than that killing characters is good.

Should I buy FEDS?

Or should I buy the Dragon Quest games for the DS? I've been looking for a new handheld rpg/srpg.

FEDS is not the greatest FE game, especially if you're looking for good character development & a detailed story. After FE10, you can really see how far they've come since the first game. Gameplay itself is alright, but the game encourages you to kill off characters, which seems backwards, & class swapping kind of ruins the experience a bit too, even if you don't use it, it in reality, wouldn't make sense.

"I'm a swashbuckling pirate, I think I'll magically get a horse & learn swords & lances, & forget how to cross water or use axes."

It's still FE though, so I still enjoy playing it. Although I'm still looking forward to a legitimately new FE game. I hope they don't continue making remakes unless they develop the characters & thicken the plot some. But that wouldn't be much of a remake at all. Even so, FEDS is okay if you simply want to play FE. Other than that, it's kind of lacking.

As far as Dragon Quest - I've never played any besides Dragon Warrior III & Dragon Warrior Monsters II, which I both enjoyed, so I'd assume the new ones would be good too. I heard mixed thinks about DQ: Joker though, which is essentially the same thing as DWMII with some minute differences.

Hands down, get the dragon quest games. FEDS lacks depth and sucks in comparison to any other FE imo. The DQ games have a great story and replay value. (<3 Low Level challenges)

Go try out FEDS before you decide. Who knows, you could actually like the gameplay. It's a little more complex than the other FE handhelds.

That's a gross exaggeration. Compared to the FE handhelds, the most prominent feature they took out was just rescuing. And Supports were just simplified, but that's pretty much it.

They added that crazy reclass thing and that unknown factor which alters growths.

EDIT: I suppose Magic trinity was also gone, which I guess was a shame, since it could've easily been adapted to Akaenia.

Hey guys.

I just had a brilliant idea for an FE-style RP.

Who would be interested in me running it?

What's your idea? If it's map-style or Viv style I'm all for it.

It's map based, and it's a sort of follow up from an RP I'm in on another site, but no-one there is here to my knowledge and it's really nothing to do with teh characters there (except one, which is mine) so it's cool.

I will type up a post summarising the plot so far and what is going down in the present/near future.

So, from what I can tell about it, the fact that you still use FE-style weaponry in a modern setting means that it's going to follow the 'Guns Are Worthless' trope?
