This has been brought up before, and SK3000 point of Karla also having one is the reason that the idea gets shot down.

I still think it might be. the red thing could also be like a second covering (it looks kind of like a cloth to me, looking at it closely) and when they talk about the family sword they could simply be talking about the Wo Dao in general, they never actually say there is one and only one

But Karel killed his family for THE family sword passed down upon generations. AND remember the shock that Karla had in the support between her and Karel?

whats the shock prove though? and I read over their support hundreds of times at FE planet and still can't find a sentence that can be seen only one of the two ways

Perhaps the sword is covered in blood

I doubt that, if it were blood stained it wouldn't be covering every inch of the blade let alone without any splatter on other parts of the sword

Or perhaps he placed an enchantment on it so it glows red when it is "hungry" for blood. lol
