Morphs
|
Over the last few weeks, I've been developing a theory about Morphs. And, not meaning to brag, but I've collected quite a bit of data about the topic. You see, it's my personal belief that Morphs are more human than they have been credited as. They were said to have been created as emotionless puppets, but Nergal missed one loop. If you create a being out of human life force, you get a human in return. Nergal perhaps realized this and began to brainwash his Morphs into thinking that they were his tools. And it worked...until their deaths. Ephidel, before getting incinerated by Dragons Gate, pleaded to his master to save him. If he was so emotionless, why did he not accept death? Sonia, believing herself to be human, died clinging to the hope that she was. If the Morphs were emotionless, why did Sonia sincerely believe she was human? And last, Limstella's final words gave Nergal's mistake away.
"I am not human. This body and this heart are constructs. Yes, as is this sorrow."
Did I hear that right? Sorrow? If I recall correctly, that is an emotion. By the time Nergal created the Morphs, he had so much belief in his 'absolute power' that he thought he was creating the perfect servants; however, in the end, he forgot to realize one loop: By creating a being with human life force, you'll get a human.
1. Discuss, please. 2. Tell me if that was a little long-winded.

1. Nice theory. Doesn't make them human, though. You can't construct a human, even through the best of alchemy.
2. It was, but meh. No big. =)

Does that explain the interesting cut-scene about the Magic Seal in Hector's story?

Well I saw this thread and only came to post in here.
I have to give an argument. I'm sure we all what the term "brainwashing" means:
also known as thought reform or re-education, is the application of persuasive techniques to change the beliefs or behavior of one or more people.
Brainwashing is my first argument, but I shall get to that a little later.
Nergal being human, and his morphs said to be "non human," or a "phenotypic variant of a species." They are said to look as the shape they are morphing in this case, humans. And are said to not have any emotions are regards for peoples feelings. Well if they can think, or talk for themselves I think that gives them a characteristic trait of a human. If you are a non human or a non organism "thing," then you simply can't be told how to "see, talk, walk, smell, etc." Being that if a morph is a clone of a human, or is a specie of a human, then it would have human-like characteristics. Or by means of having the morphic organism brainwashed to do what you want.
There is also the mere fact of Jaffar and Sonia. Jaffar, if any of you pain attention... He died as a baby, but Nergal brought him back to life as a morph, and made him his Angel of Death. As Jaffar also stated as not having the ability to show emotions. He killed so many mainly because Nergal had this control over him, so Jaffar had to obey Nergal's commands, plus as is said they are his "puppets." So what is a puppet's main purpose? To answer/obey it's master's command. But how could you not be human and be excluded from having feelings or emotions? Being those are organism traits. I mean come on if a dog is sad you can tell. I am not comparing a morph to a dog, I was just giving an example. So tell me how could the scene where Jaffar and Nino are supposed to kill the prince have worked out likewise to the emotion statement? I mean if you are a puppet you will stop at nothing to obey what your master told you. So why is it that he didn't murder the prince because Nino told him? He was only supposed to fulfill what Nergal told him, not fallen victim to Nino's plea. So if you see where I am getting with this, how can a morph with absolutely no feelings, and who are 100% non-human, fall to what another human's emotions are? And also he said he had no heart, well if you have a heart that does make you some sort of living organism. So if Morphs are non existent to emotions, then why does Jaffar fall in love with Nino? Now since i have studied something of this recently for school. Excuse me how can a non living organism love? Just curious. But if we are talking about a human morph to a real human, falling in love. That does qualify as a human feeling. And Jaffar was the one who told Nino he loved her. Human feeling. Humans ban become known to puppets.
I'll add more later...

Well, Sonia clearly had a sort of god complex, and the thought that she is the same as the very morphs she looked down on did not come easy for her. She refused to belief it in her final moments. Denial is not really an emotion.

I never knew Jaffar was a morph. Did it say that in a support?

It was in a cutscene of one of the chapters.
Sorry if i confused anyone, had a long night before I wrote that, then I started getting sleepy and sidetracked with watching Moulin Rouge.
Coming to a good conclusion if anyone really ever said he was, there are few good reasons to tell that he isn't. 1. No black hair 2. The ability to have feelings for another human being
But being that I think being human or non human, Nergal certainly had an influence on them. For the way they acted, but as it is there were only his "puppets."
Also but hey it's a video game, anything surely must be possible there.

I believe you may have misread the cutscene in chapter 27x(?). If I recall correctly, Sonia tells Jaffar of how Nergal found Jaffar alive atop a pile of corpses.

LD is right. And, the magic seal was a morph, but you can tell that he's misshapen and apparently can't talk, or maybe he just doesn't want to. Anyway, he's an example of a morph who can feel emotion.
