Midnight Club II runs too fast (fix or patch needed) |
|
I've had this game for X-Box and sold my console some time ago. I recently purchased it for PC and the game is extremely fast. It's hard to toggle through menus; the spinning logo during the load screen is extremely fast. The game just isn't playable and I'm wondering if you guy have any suggestions. I have a 1.7 GHz laptop with 1 Gig RAM and 64 MB ATI video card.

This isn't supposed to be. I do have this problem on the PC i'm currently using, but I've played this many times before on my other pc and others in past. It's just some sort of glitch. This is the first area I have seen others have the same problem. No idea how to fix it

Problem is in our case sometimes solved by increasing all details and resolution to highest. Furthermore, turn vsync on and turn off things such as Ati AI, 'application prefered' settings (turn them to detail).

I've the same issue. I tried the game on two laptops, one dual core and another centrino. I noticed the same problem that has been reported in another games such as Beyond Good and Evil.
The thing is that the game tries to calculate the CPU speed when it starts. Because the CPU clock is dynamic, the game starts at 800MHz but when it runs goes to 2000MHz, giving the speed issues. There are a couple of community tools for Beyond Good and Evil that force the CPU to maximum throttling before starting, but they only work with that game. I was trying to find a similar tool for this one but found nothing so far. If you guys find anything I will be glad to give them a try. I don't think this is a graphics problem but more like CPU related. Thanks | |
