What's wrong with the PS2 version? |
|
I bought this game a while ago for PS2 and have to say it's really good, gameplay-wise it wipes the floor with Tomb Raider. One thing though, why do the graphics look like some dodgy pirated copy? It's not that they're bad graphics per-se it's just that it looks like they've just been blurred or something. What's up with that?

quote ShortRoundI didn't notice on my old TV but now on my new TV I feel the same way you do. Game play is fine but there is just something off... it's almost like one of the color's, I wanna say black but I don't know. Is one or two pixels to the side of where it should be. It is perhaps more noticeable in the cut scenes, hell it might only be the cut scenes. Because during game play I don't recall thinking it sucked too much, it is actually pretty fun. ------------------- "Pain is candy for the focused mind."--Bobby Hobbes "Murder is a crime... unless your a corporation."--Me

Would it be possible to get a scanned copy of the Instruction book for IJ? I bought a used copy at Funcoland, and it didn't have the book.

quote KingsoloIt is possible if someone has a scanner and will do it but just in case it might be quicker to check some walkthroughs, at the beginning a lot of people list the controls. And the fighting moves you basically have to try yourself, they don't tell you all the combinations but it is pretty simple but really fun. I went to the Xbox forum and tried to 'decode' it to PS2. http://www.neoseeker.com/Games/Products/Xbox/Indy_EmperorsTomb/faqs.html I looked at the only walkthrough it has a control list, some things are different but you will figure it out. I think the "guard/block" is the same as the roll button but you only roll when your running, course I have almost rolled myself to death. Remember the guard button though when you walk, and walk slowly or you'll roll, off a ledge that's a bit too high if you hold guard you will grab the ledge behind you. You will automatically grab ledges in-front of you if your square enough to it. PS2 IJ Game controls re: What's wrong with the PS2 version? |
|
Controls are generally quite smooth to use and whilst at first they may feel a little loose and not all immediately intuitive they are not tricky to employ on-the-fly once you've played a level or two. The first level anyway serves pretty much as training for what's to come. Apart from those buttons already mentioned the left analogue stick provides main movement (there's no proper strafing while running around), right analogue for looking/camera movement, circle for jumping, triangle for action, R1 for guard mode, R2 to reload, L1 for look mode/rolling/resetting camera and L2 for drawing/holstering weapon or choosing the last item used. A 1st-person mode using a crosshair is employed by pressing L1 and aiming with either analogue stick. This comes in very handy to take out a few enemies before they spot you as once they do there can quite often be a whole gang of them to take on and picking one or two off first makes your job a little easier.
