Message that scanner cartridge is installed when it is not

Can anyone help? My Canon BJ85 was giving error messasges but that stopped after disconnecting and reconnecting to power.

But it won't print. Gives the message that scanner cartridge is installed. I removed and reinserted the prniter cartridge several times, to no effect. Even inserted and then remosed the scanner cartridge.
No help in the book!
