Yeah. Go to the desr_strat file in your computer and edit the settings by changing Macedon to the playable factions list.

Just to expand on what Turmoil said, you can find the desr_strat file in:

C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\Data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign

(assuming you installed it to the default location).

You can change any of the factions to playable. But be warned, some of the campaigns can be more buggy with factions that weren't intended to be playable, especially SPQR (the senate). Also, you have to leave 2-3 factions as unplayable as far as I remember, otherwise the game doesn't load properly.

Yeah, don't bother changing the Senate or the Rebels to playable factions. Your game will crash if you try to load them as a campaign.

No, senate works.

Just never touch the senate function as senate, and you'll be fine.
