My friend recently decided to install red faction, since we were both great fans of the game I went and installed my copy so we could re live some memories but I have since upgraded to windows vista which is where the problem starts.

Installation and update went fine, detects video card and everything seems OK in the setup. It’s not until I run the game that after the THQ and Volition logo appear that an error message materialises saying that RF.exe has failed. In the event viewer this is said about the crash.

“Faulting application RF.exe, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x3c0f9b78, faulting module RF.exe, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x3c0f9b78, exception code 0xc0000094, fault offset 0x0010f561, process id 0x764, application start time 0x01c7ff2600290588.”

Event log online help sends me to this page:

I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem or if it is possible to have play red faction on windows vista.

That's a BSOD. Try reinstalling the game.

What do you mean thats a BSOD because I certainly don't see a BSOD.

But reinstalling the game worked.
