[ THE SIMS GC FORUM RULES ]

    [ On Topic vs Off Topic ]
      Please stay On-Topic at all times, unless posting in a general discussion which allows for off topic discussion to take place. Posting unrelated material in a thread will result in the deletion of your post. Think before you post and stay on topic.

    [ Thread Creation, Use and Abuse ]

      Use the "Post A New Message" link at the top right of the forum when you have a question or new topic that is not related to the other threads, but does not stray away from the topic of the forum you are posting in.

      Only create new threads when absolutely necessary and confine questions of your own to a single or related thread. For example:

      Member X creates a new thread that says this.
      quote Member X's Thread

      Hi everyone! I have a question.

      How do I get ____?

      Thanks, reply as soon as you can!

      After Member X has received an answer, they immediately create a new thread that is identical to their first thead, with the exception of the question.

      Instead of doing what Member X did, it is more efficient and organized to ask questions in the same thread. After Member X received the answer to their first question, they should have asked the next question right below that.

      When creating a game or more official thread, such as a Forum Index, please make sure that you have the permission of the Forum Moderator, or the Section Moderator (in the absence of a Forum Moderator). At a last resort, you may ask a Super Moderator for permission.

      Only post information that adds to the discussion of the thread you are posting in, answers a question in the thread or is related in some manner. Off topic or unrelated posts can and will be deleted.

    [ Posting Do's and Do Not's ]
      DO ::

      • post relevant, helpful, or discussional information or material

      DO NOT ::

      • post irrelevant, offensive, or rude information or material

      • post anything that breaks any of the rules

    [ Forum Language and Behavior ]

      Do not use offensive language at any time in the forum.

      This includes ::
      • swearing, be it a joke or intentional
      • racist comments, jokes or the like
      • a mean approach or attitude when talking to others
      • anything else that may offend or hurt someone

      People found breaking this rule will be given one warning before action will be taken. If a problem is encountered with another member, please use the NeoPM system to resolve the issue, rather than continue to bicker in the forum.

      Respect other members and the forum will run smoothly.

    [ Flooding ]

      Please do not flood the forum.

      FLOODING ::

      Flooding is where you post to many threads in a short period of time, perhaps to stay on top of the forum stats, or just to have your name all over the first page of a forum so you are popular, or perhaps because you want someone to see you post a lot there.

      Do not at any time do this, it is against the rules and does not allow others to enjoy the forum to its full potential. Anyone seen flooding will be given two warnings before a more serious approach will be taken.

    [ Impersonation ]

      The impersonation of another member, moderator, wiki staff, or administrator is not allowed at any time. If you pose as a moderator or higher, you will be penalized for "memberating." This is when a member attempts to pose as a moderator in the forums when they truly are not.

      This includes attempting to ::
      • close threads
      • deal out punishments or bans
      • perform any other moderator-specific functions

      Moderators appreciate help in the forums, especially if they have other work. If a problem is seen in the forum, please do not hesitate to use the report feature under a post to notify the moderator. Do not attempt to deal with the problem further than redirection or suggestions. Attempting a moderator function or placing yourself higher than a regular member can result in your own penalization.

    [ Spamming ]

      This is when many short posts with little or no discussional value are posted multiple times.

      This includes posts such as ::
      • "lol"
      • "ok"
      • "(:"

      The three above are merely examples of the many, many types of posts that can be considered spam.

      Please post at least one, relevant sentence to avoid being targeted for spamming.

    [ Smiley Abuse ]

      Please try to limit the number of smilies per post. They distract from the rest of your post and are not pleasing to the eye. One or two similies will suffice in most cases; using five or more is pushing it.

    [ Report Feature Abuse ]

      Please only report posts that break the rules in some way. Anyone found abusing the report feature to report posts that do not break the rules will be given one warning before being penalized.

    [ Account Abuse ]

      Do not create multiple accounts to abuse the forum.

      This includes ::
      • creating multiple accounts to be able to post more
      • creating alternate accounts to bypass a ban

      Account abuse is not restricted to those two examples. There are more things that you can be penalized for. Please stick to one account. Moderators can and will find out if you create alternate accounts to cause trouble.

    [ Pornographic and Other Offensive Material ]

      Under no circumstances is posting inappropriate material allowed.

      This includes having ::
      • pornographic or offensive images in avatars or signatures
      • pornographic or offensive images / text in posts
      • offensive language in custom titles or signatures
      • linking to websites that have pornographic or offensive content

      The list above contains a few examples of the many ways this rule can be broken. Please keep in mind that signatures, custom titles, and avatars can be disabled and posts can be deleted. Be careful of what you post in the forums and what you use to represent your account.

    [ Advertisements ]

      Advertising is not allowed in regular forum posting. It is, however, permitted in forum signatures and in members' Neohomes.

      Advertising includes ::
      • linking to a website that requires the visitor to sign-up or support their services in any way
      • linking to a different forum
      • creating a thread about a service you or a friend, for example, can supply WITH a link to an outside site

      The above are only a few examples of the many forms of advertising. Those found guilty of advertising will be given one warning before serious action will be taken. Please use your Neohome and signature to link to outside sites, not the forums.

      Types of links that are acceptable ::
      • any links leading to another part of Neoseeker, including Wikis
      • links to helpful game FAQs, tips or cheats (though, quoting the source and posting the information works better)
      • links to official game sites that do not require registration
      • links to images that are not offensive or pornographic in nature
      • links to large sites such as Google, Wikipedia and Photobucket

      There are other types of links that have been deemed acceptable. The list above simply gives examples of common links.

    [ The NeoPM System ]

      Please use the NeoPM system if you need to talk with another member. The forum is not a place for two-person discussions. Members are advised to discuss more personal information through NeoPM, rather than using a forum's general discussion. Keep in mind that Administrators can check members' NeoPMs if they feel they are being abused. These NeoPMs can be shown publicly, so be sure to use a more secure method of speaking if you wish to discuss something private.

    [ Illegal Material ]

      Discussion of ROMs, ISOs, Emulators, hacks, or any other illegal ways to obtain programs and/or games is not permitted at any time. You are advised to purchase your games instead of using illegal methods. Please use the NeoPM system or another method of communication if you wish to discuss these things. Members found discussing illegal material in the forums will be given three warnings before they are penalized.
