*bleep*!

Well, it appears my TA has either a blown head gasket or a cracked head. My dad and I are gonna check it out more extensively this weekend, but I'm apparently losing compression in the radiator, so it doesn't look good.

*bleep*in A man...

re: *bleep*!

That sucks man, will give you something to work on, and having seen those engine bays, you should have enough room to do it.

re: *bleep*!

Yeah, at this point I'm just hoping that's the only problem.

re: *bleep*!

It's not always that easy man, for instance my buddy cracked his block nearly in half with his old Saturn and the oil looked perfect and so did the antifreeze...Just one of those things.

Good luck Aggro, do a compression test before you go rippin shit apart, might give you a good idea of what's going on.

re: *bleep*!

We're gonna do a pressure test on the radiator Saturday, and my dad was telling me about some kind of kit to see if there's combustion gases coming out of the radiator, so I think we're gonna do that too.

If the motor ends up being a wash I'm gonna be car shopping soon, thing that sucks is I don't have a lot of spare money to spend on a car right now, so I'll be looking for something to drive for a year or two until I can get my hands on a '09 Camaro (assuming my business picks up between now and then). Very likely that if I do end up buying another car soon it'll be a 3rd gen Z28 or IROC

Not always that easy, true. But in the case where you have some rare goofy shit going on they make compression testers, pressure testers, and a few other things that escape me atm...which you've already said.

It's usually a good guideline, but it's not always 100%.

re: *bleep*!

Sorry to hear that Aggro. I hope it's just gonna be a head gasket. If it is more are you gonna let it sit till you can fix it? I'm thinking that the entire LT4 kit is around 2500 bucks and it has heads, cam, intake and everything else to change it over. Just a thought. Link to kit.

re: *bleep*!

If it's more than a head gasket I'm gonna need to decide if I want to try to sell it as is or if I want to park it until I can afford to fix it. Right now I'm rollin in a 1990 Suburban, and I don't want to drive that thing a second longer than I have to. Hopefully my business (Personal Training) will pick up after the holidays and I'll be able to afford to make payments on something decent to drive for a while.

To be honest I've never planned to get rid of the TA, even after I get something newer, but my money situation might force me to. If I do keep it I'll definitely look into something like that LT4 conversion kit in the future. If it's not feasible to fix it right now it will more than likely never be my daily driver again, and I'll start doing some dramatic engine mods as I get the money.
