When Nobunaga Oda is finally defeated by Samanosuke and he is taking his last breaths he says..

"A dream or an illusion..?"


What was he talking about?

"A man's life is 50 years... But a wink in the life of the cosmos..

Perhaps an actual Nobunaga Oda quote?

He's talking about how small a lifetime seems to be compared to the stars and cosmos.

In a way, I guess he didn't want to live a lifetime only to be fade and forgotten later.

I don't quite get the dream-illusion part. But the wink in he cosmos part is a comparison between man's life and time itself.

Hmmm yeah I think we shall all agree about how the life of a man is an insignificant speck compared to the existence of the universe.

As for the 'dream/illusion' comment... perhaps Nobunaga feels that life is so surreal and unbelievable sometimes, that it can be like a dream..?

Why not? He seems like a pretty philosophical guy.

Nobunaga is a very intriguing villain. We don't really see that much of him really. Guildenstern seems more like the typical villain who pops up, has a scheme thwarted and then pops up again to taunt the hero.

Yeah, Guildenstern is like that. Nobunaga is just the guy who watches from the shadows and intervenes when appropriate.

I think Guildenstern has to go down as possibly the greatest Genma of all...

Although in a way Fortinbras could take that title because it was him who spawned the Genma and humanity..

Yeah, Fortinbras is the best, followed by Guildenstern, then Gogandantess.

This may be blatantly obvious... but in one of the Oni books you find in Onimusha 2, it says that the Oni Sacred Place was conquered by a young demon swordsman and two other demons. This "young demon swordsman"...Gogandantess by any chance?

Gogandantess never came off as young to me. But being he's the only major demon swordsman in Onimusha besides Ranmaru (who wasn't even a demon yet, actually) then I guess it's him.

Yeah but at the time that Oni book was written Gogandantess might have been young..

Good a guess as mine.
