As mentioned in the AKO menu, the green vest allows you to suck souls out of your enemies. However, it's a very slow process. Just keep pressing "soul-sucking" button for a while and you'll see a soul coming out of your enemy flying towards your gaunlet.

if you suck enough souls out the genma then they should turn to ash then die releasing more souls
it helps if you knock them on the ground and then you might be able to suck the remaining souls out and finish them off | |
