I do not understand what is wrong with you people? There is only one true
ending of the game and it is reachable no matter how much money you have,
or what missions you had finished.

First, simply you must get your PDA and make the wright choose of final tasks.

There is a ONE mission to find the Wishgranter, and by it in the
description it says something about "The Monolith is calling me,
I must go to the Monolith".

And there is a SECOND mission, to find answers you need. About that you got help from every member of Streloks group that survived including Doctor. Not only answers about who you are and who is Strelok, but everything else about the Zone. All what you have always wanted to know from the begining of the game.

(That is a thing that I like in Russian games. A reality. If you didnt have noticed, through the whole game you have very little energy level, and you can die from 2-3 bullets from near. So you need to preserve the ammo, medic staff, and bondages all along. On the same way you must create yourself, as a main character of the game, to find what you are really looking for.)

So, it is really simple what to choose. The Doctor simply said:"The Monolith is an illusion", and he got it wright. That movie about Strelok coming to the Monolith, makes some wish to become rich man, and then dies is a fake. How he really dies stay in his mind. Because the Monolith is scientific creation to make people come to the center of the Zone and become labrats or zombies if they are normal people, but not marked ones with Stalker tattoos. But that is all fake. Whoever got to the Monolith, the psychic emisions will kill him, creating halucination of the way he dies by reading his (greedy) wish. For Godsake that is why they are protecting that Decoded door so much, instead of stupid rock itself.

In the final chamber past the numerous hallways where that Monolith hologram is, and where that C-consciousness representative hologram answers your questions, in that room you are told that the main objective of the Experiment was to eliminate greed, anger,... So it is natural to everyone who makes to the wishgranter and make some wish to die, by some halucination which will let him know about his greed. That scenario the player must predict. And he must go to the decoded door in the first place. And by choosing not to help those crazy scientists, bring order to the Galax... Ups,... Earth by destoying the Zone.


And finally about the Strelok. I think that he was as other Stalkers because of his tattoo, in service of the scientists. Than he somehow escaped from C-consciousness machine, and founded by his old friend Doctor who cared about him and always giving him advices not to work for scientists. When recovered Strelok said that he is going to the North. He collect his group but they all died from the enemies all kind and the Scorcher. All but him. Because he was not normal guy, he was Stalker. An agent. The scientists found out that he is missing, and what he is trying to do with his new friends. They ordered all agents to kill Strelok. Because of his tattoo, Strelok also got the message through brain signal what makes him to totally lost his memories.

If someone have the other theories about Strelok please let me now.

Hell - I dont think there is anyone who can add to that thread!! I never even paid attention to end on any occasion I played this game! I may be *bleep* but I found the story quite confusing so gave up bothering to comprehend story - let alone mission failed messages (for missions I didnt even know I was on!?!) and just enjoyed the ride in this epic game

Well, substantial description, but most of the people count that there are two true endings: joining to C-C and refusing to join.
One thing about Strelok: depends on the prequel "Clear Sky", Strelok seem to be a simple stalker who has reached the center of the Zone and found that WishGranter...
