As it goes, the Index thread is growing on me. The concept of an Index and rules/mod post I'm liking the idea of. May do a little changing later on depending on whether or not I revise. The announcement thread I'm less positive for.

I was on the fence whether it'd be worth a new header, but I'm leaning more against the idea now. I'm fond of that one. Apparently wouldn't receive many entries, either. If a few of yous think it's a good idea I'll go through with it though.

Edit: Just noticed the links at the top for the first time ever, haha. That nulls the point of an Index. Opinion possibly changing.

The new search improvement makes the Index even more redundant, especially for this forum. I'm going to put the remaining useful links into the header selection and do away with the thread. Got it noted down just in case, but I suppose for the reason I just stated I don't really need to.

Confirmation: Index thread removed. If anyone's got any feelings regarding it and want it back, give me a shout.

Anyone interested in the themes from the Steam forum being brought over?

I don't mind either way if themes get added or not.

However, I did notice your header contest post. And I gotta say the next header should feature iconic characters in PC gaming like Gordon Freeman (Half-Life), Sarah Kerrigan (Starcraft), Space Marine from DOOM, etc.

I definitely agree that they should do, but I just wanted to ensure that no one was bogged down or put off by specific restrictions. I'm just hoping that we get enough regardless of who's in it, but obviously it's much more likely that relevant and well designed headers will win.

Right, I'll make one as a trial thread and see how it goes.

Just thought of this, how about a 20 questions type game. One person thinks of a PC game, or character etc, and everybody else asks questions. Who ever guesses right, gets to pick the next one.

Yeah, I know the game. It's pretty decent but I really don't like many games in the first place, so we'll hold out on the current ones and maybe when one thread reaches the limit I'll start a rotation. Thanks for the suggestion.

Could we have some sort of special thread created by the members promoting a game and getting a link in the forum header (to the thread)?

Of course, it would require effort on behalf of the members to make the thread...

Hey buds, just a suggestion maybe instead of closing/unstickying the Free Games thread and having everyone make threads, maybe you should keep the Free Games thread still open only instead link to the thread of the free game, because if those free game threads get made and eventually buried noone will get free games anymore.

Gunna make an Index for everything that's a game thread as of posted or posted in recently, I think. It will take too much effort to go back too far. It's just that the Free Games thread is not only pretty useless anyway, but it also encourages people to just throw in the minimal effort and simply leave a link in a characterless thread.

Possibly require a paragraph description of the game?

My idea was more of less what was just done with the APB thread, except with a caption and a header mention (possibly thread note too) much like the Steam forum Featured Game (of the season ).

I was considering putting up APB as soon as I read your suggestion, but I'd rather see it being a reliable feature first. And yes, a paragraph (though something more brief would be a little simpler) for each game would be feasible, but I'd prefer to see this in an Index rather than the Free Games thread because then it means consistency with the threads in the forum.

Steam Featured Game ended cos I lost Photoshop. I'll see if I can get that regular again, indeed.
