Playing Ico with Grandma |
|
OK, so recently my grandma had a stroke which left most of her speech and motor functions impaired. I know I shouldnt poke fun of her, but being a Grandma's boy I got stuck taking care of her, so I now have a strange sense of humour about the situation. More to the point, I realized that taking care of her is like playing a really twisted game of Ico. To explain...
Grandma is unable to get from her bed to the bathroom to the kitchen to the TV by herself, so I must accompany her. Along the way, numerous obstacles in the form of chairs and stuff are to be found, which must be knocked aside so Grandma can pass. Occasionally, Grandma's cats (she has a lot of them) will appear and attempt to use Grandma as a scratching post. They must be batted away without mercy. In the harder levels, Grandma will attempt to walk on her own and soon be nowhere to be found. Then, I must search the entire apartment building until I locate her. Darn! So there we have it. If anyone knows of any other real-life situations that are comparable to Ico, feel free to post them here! -------------------

That... is twisted.
However, I think I can mention that a friend of my mother's has an old garden that is a lot like the courtyard area in ICO (the one in which there are holes and the ground with water and weight-switches). It's very pretty. ------------------- | |

Try taking a trip on the New York City subway during rush hour... That makes "Ico" seem like child's play!
