Building Weapons

Man this game is pretty sweet.

I used the Dwarf Rogue, and maxed out his FORGE LORE feat, and now the workshop costs for building enchanted weapons is decreased by 75%!!

I built a crossbow

16 Runestone
16 Jacinth
16 Jade

It ended up being a +5 Superior Crossbow of Woe

24-38 damage
+5-30 Fire Damage
+5-20 Acid Damage

It is freaking sweeeeet.

Whats your best weapon?

re: Building Weapons

I don't know what my strongest weapon is but my favorite is a +5 Flawless Vampiric Great Axe (I think that's what it is called). The effect is whatever damage you do, 25% of that is added to both your life and magic energy. If you want to make one:

16 Rune Stones
16 Ruby
16 Emerald

(I'll check on that but I think that is right.)

To get the '+5' bit ... did you have to put 5 stones of each type ? (5 ruin stones + the gems x5 ) ?

I have a fine mace of speed x2 and fine mace of defense +1 to each peice of amour worn
As you can see I am in the early stages of this game ..well, end of act 2 !!

re: Building Weapons

To get the full +5, it has to be 16 of each stone.

This costs a lot of money for just one more point, but it maxes out the weapon.

It only takes 8 of each stone to get a +4 weapon.

not my strongest but my favorite:

Flawless staff with:
16 rune stones
16 jacinths
16 aquamarines

ended up in a +5 Flawless Staff of Coldfire.
wow, blue fire!!

I am in act 3 at the moment. At what point do ya start finding 'loads of money' ? .

I upgraded a weapon ' superior crossbow + 2 + 8 Acid damage '.
Very cool the acid damage ...I think most creatures are effected by it !

It's interesting applying stones to different amour types and weapons, deter what the effect the stone has ! much to my wifes annoyance ...she gets a little impatient after half n hour of watching me apply the emerald for the 3rd time to the shield because I forgot I had already done that ?

re: Building Weapons

The money depends on what difficulty you play on.

Easy, you mostly find junk weapons, and the best stuff is found in the Onyx tower at the end.

Normal, very slight upgrade in the quality of weapons you find.

Hard, You find some pretty good stuff here.

Extreme, probably the greatest level for pure money there is. At the end, you can actually purchase a Flawless Great Sword from Bartley the shopkeeper. A weapon of that grade available to buy is unheard of.

You could always do the "Cloning trick" if you want some fast cash.

1. Save your game.

2. Start new game, with different character.

3. Import your original character, and drop the most expensive weapons you can, and pick them up with your other character.

4. Delete the imported character.

5. Import the character again, and drop the expensive weapons again. Do steps 3 and 4 until you get enough that you can sell for a lot of money.

6. Save your game.

7. Load your original game.

8. Import the character that picked up all of the expensive weapons. Drop them to your current character.

9. Delete imported character.

10. Go sell all of the extra weaponry you gained through that process. The more expensive the weapon, the better the results.

TO get extreme, you must first finish the game on one of the first difficulty levels available.

re: Building Weapons

Just trying to work out this ...

Quote from Item Creation and the types of equipment Guide

"...Effect in Weapons (all types and gloves).

of Mighty Cleaving -> +1 cleave (Max. Rank 10). No icon.
Gives cleave the hit all enemy in front attack.
Glows blue around the outside. "

Is this how to obtain the Cleave feat ?
I am currently playing the Dwarf and really wont the feat

re: Building Weapons

The dwarf doesnt get cleave I dont think. Most of his feats are ranged, and accompany his trusty crossbows.

He does gain new feats in act 3, but Im not sure cleave is one of them. I know he gains Shield Bash, but Im not sure about cleave.

the +1 to cleave for the weapons only adds to the feat if you have it. You have to perform the Cleave feat before the +1 can be incorporated, so if you dont have the cleave feat, a weapon that gives a + to cleave isnt going to help you.

Cheers for clearing the 'bonus add to feat ' issue for me ... I thought as much.

btw upon completing the dwarfs quest to kill that massive red lizzard , you gain the 'cleave' feat
