How do you get stuff off of enemies' dead bodies?

I have long pondered this question, even consulted the manuel but all it does is mention the damn thing. Could someone tell me how to get items (mainly weapons) off of enemies bodies? Do you have to kill them first or what? How do you do it if their bodies dissapear after a few seconds.

No idea really, I think its a misprint in the manual. Maybe try pressing the Y to get the menu once they're dead, but I think I tried that and it didn't work.

Thanks, I think it may work, although I think they stated pretty clearly in the manual about getting weapons off dead people, maybe you can only get it off skeletons or special characters in a script.

It does say it in the manual, I forget where though. Maybe in the tips in the back, I don't remember. I don't think the Y button works because I tried it again last night.

Hey some of you guys already got special swords, from dungeons etc, did you guys get them of of enemies or did you just find them in treasure chests?

i found the sword highlander in a dungeon chest. (redmond town dungeon) i want the swords that my officers carry they are always good(you cant exchange for an equipped item), or the swords those undead super pirates carry. these undead super pirates alway kill me. i notice one always has a sword that is very curvy-not curved like a falchion, but just ripply-if you can understand that

Go to meele attack in the manual. Turn the page and there should be 2 paragraphs (small) under Items at the top of the page (the left one), read the first paragraph and you'll see it.

P.S. On page 22

on page 22 in mine it is the credits and under melee attack it doesn't mention picking up weapons or anything

It does say in the PC manual that "While playing the game the player will encounter various useful items, some offering benifits to skills or assitance during quests. These may be found on quests, given as rewards, or retrieved from an enemy's body after combat"

I believe It(Pg.22 Manual) means the Squall(weapon) that you get from a dead priest guy. That is the only weapon ya can get after killin someone. other bodies disappear. You cannot get weapons from any other enemies.

re: How do you get stuff off of enemies' dead bodies?

There is a patch available on several sites that will put the sword of the enemy you (or your officers) just killed into your inventory. If you board a ship or go to a dungeon, you can get quite a lot of swords that you can sell at a store or vendor for a lot of $$.
