Mobility Radeon 9600 ain't the best. I have a 9800 and I get about the same FPS as you, then again i have a 2.2ghz processor.
What settings are you playing on? You would probably perform well at 1024x768 w/mostly medium settings or 800x600 w/mostly high settings. Keep tweaking until you find a setting that delivers the performance you desire. I know tweaking can be boring and tedious but that's ALWAYS the first thing I do with a game. I'll sometimes spend hours just tweaking it to no end to get it to run good on my computer. Half-Life 2 Tweak Guide ^Try that to tweak HL2 even more. | |

Also, my computers hardware manager says its a 9700

Ye your PC could be way up top and no matter what hardware you got every game has it's own "choices" of hardware an ATI Radeon 9200 is a good graphics card for this game if you don't want to buy something that's top market price. It's just a suggestion thats all.

it only needs a 32mb DX7 video card, but i dunno which ones are supported.

I have a 2ghz processor
256 ram Geforce MX 420 (only 64 megs) OUCH! ..... will this no be enough to run it on the default settings? Is it not worth buying it until i upgrade?? | |

It'll run, but those 256MBs of RAM might cause some problems...

A little question from me this time...
My birthday is this week and I was planning on buying a GF6600. Which version should I get and will it run HL² maxed out on DX9? Here's the rest of my system: 2.24 Ghz AMD 3200+ processor 768MB RAM 120Gig HD (I doubt that makes a difference) Anyway, you can find some technical details from the card HERE Oh and it sais it's 128MB, I though it was 256... will it still be better than my current (don't laugh) FXF5700LE 256MB? ------------------- Props to my Americano Pimpa~ Tweaker, for being Neo's very own sexy d00d | |
