re: Half-Life 2 System Requirements

Yes, I'm talking to you. The main factors wether or not the game would play properly would be the processor, RAM and videocard. Those are the main components to affect your gamingperformance. For instance, on the RAM part, you could have an integrated videocard leaching part of it. Not only would that videocard be really slow (integrated = worthless), it would also affect your performance as Windows would most likely be forced to use the HDD as a backup. HDD's are really slow in comparison. Another problem could be that your CPU is simply too slow. Or the hardware could be interfering, or is simply not supported. The system requirements could also have changed a tad, as the game now supports HDR and blooming.

Those are the main scenarios basically.

HALF LIFE 2 ONLY REQUIRES 256 of mb MINE SAY's I NEED 3771 OF mb HOW CAN THAT BE POSSIBLE THATS WHY I CAN't PLAY IT MY PC IS STUPID.
You're confusing Ram with hard drive space. HL2 Requires 256mb of ram, and 3771mb of HDD space.

re: Half-Life 2 System Requirements

this game runs fine with a 32mb card, it doesn't need a 64mb card.

geforce 1 and geforce 2 and tnt2 all runs half life, with the exeption of tnt2 only capable of running hl2 in 320x??? resolution, change the requirements now.

change it or else don't sticky it, remember the goal of this thread is to bring out the RIGHT requirement, look at the box yourself if you want proof.

so change it.

re: Half-Life 2 System Requirements

It should definitely work since you're running XP. A note to anyone using Vista, that even if you're above the recommended requirements, the game will still run slow, so you have to kind of go overkill to run the game smoothly, and high graphics mode is probably out of the question without at least 2 GB RAM and at least a 128 MB video card. Onboard video is not going to do it for you, especially on Vista.

My specs are:

Intel Celeron D CPU 3.47 GHz
1014mb RAM
32 bit Windows Vista

Well above the recommended requirements, but it still runs so badly...
Where does my problem lie?

i'll point you towards Lord Sion's post directly above yours:

plus you didnt post what GPU you have. that could be hurting how well it runs.

Medium at a push, you've got DX9 software not the proper DX9 hardware which I'm afraid is also crap. Try http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest
