Every time I try to run any game that requires STEAM, I get this error message. It says something along the lines of my local game files are screwed up and Steam wants to update them. I click OK in order to 'update' my local game files... and nothing happens. It just gives me another box with the 'OK' and 'cancel' choices. I am getting VERY ticked off at Steam because of this crap... I used to be able to run any games with no problems. Here are my system specifications:

Intel Pentium 4 (Prescott core) 550, 3.4GHz
1.5GHz Corsair PC3200 RAM
ATi Radeon X700 Pro 256MB
DVD Burner with Lightscribe
DVD-ROM drive

My system can easily run any of the games, so what's going on?!

Valve can't do anything right. But you could try their help page, or feedback, etc, at www.steampowered.com.
Lately, I've been told that I don't own the game I've been playing for the past two years. Then later, it works fine. Also, I wasn't able to buy anything off Steam as the damn page can NEVER be displayed. EVER.

I tried looking for an answer on Steampowered.com. It was useless. There was nothing even REMOTELY similar to my issue.

Re-install Steam and/or the games concerned? A last resort may be PC roll-back, if it wasn't that long ago it started happening.
You should be able to speak to a technician or something directly through PM, IM or Email, if Valve are worth their salt. I've never had any major problems with Steam, so I still don't know how their feedback system works.
