I'm in the Dark Energy chapter, chasing breen up while he's riding inside the energy ball elevator, or whatever it is. I've made it all the way along the ledge, past the power generator thingies with the 3 balls in each one, and out onto the ledge with the floating platforms to ride around and up the face of the thing Breen is in. Every time I step onto a platform and it starts to move, however, I can't stay on the platform. It's like it suddenly turns into ice, and a slip-slide all over the place. Been working on it for about 10-15 mins now, and can't stay on long enough even to make it half way around the goofy thing. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong.

You're supposed to be able to just ride the platform all the way up.

Try restarting the level and see if the problem persists.

I beat the game on all the difficulties and that never happened. If that keeps happening, (I'm not promoting cheating but if it's gotta be done it's gotta be done) use the noclip command in the console by hitting ` if you've activated it. If not, go into Steam, go to Half Life 2, right click on it, select Properties, select Set Launch Options, and put -applaunch -dev -tconsole and you're good.
