It sure as hell won't run fine with 512MB of ram and any ordinary video card with 128MB. The MB of a video card isn't all that matters.

its still a piece of shit im afraid, you really want something a hell of alot better, that 5200 card is better used as a paper weight! have a look on ebay, you could get a 2nd hand mid range card like an ATI x600 for £20, thats my old card type, ran HL2 fairly well.

Well if you do get around to buying a card, try www.scan.co.uk, I got my ATI X1950 PRO 256mb card for £130 and i recommend 1GB of RAM try www.crucial.co.uk for that.

Or you could do what I did. Get a dual core pc with 768mb 8800GTX graphics card and 4GB of ram.

Then you'll be able to play CRYSIS when it comes out, probably at full specs. And that game should make HL2 look like crap in comparison.

Wouldn't be cheap though.

re: Has anybody found a solution to the studdering problem?

I'd say your main problem is the 512MB of RAM causing your studdering. Especially if you have a sloppy operating system using 400+MB before you even open the game. Add another 512MB to that. Also, the 5200 is weak. Not disrespecting your system, just stating the facts. I had an FX5600 a long time ago and couldn't stand it for over 2 weeks. I went ahead and bought a 9800PRO after that, lol. BTW, a 9800PRO can play HL2 maxed out with full anti-aliasing @ 1280x1024 VERY SMOOTHLY. A 7600GT can do even better... and from there on, it's all about how much you want to spend.

re: Has anybody found a solution to the studdering problem?

i just realized i spelled "studdering" wrong.
its "stuttering"
i know i know
see, im from new jersey
instead of "water" we say "wader"
are "t's" become "d's"
"did you eat?" - "jew eat?" "no, did you?" - "nah d'jew?"
