ROOKIES

i know this is probably already a thread but i can't be stuffed finding it so;

Who is your best eva Rookie and wat were their stats?

I just started a new season and my 2nd overall pick in the draft (i had pick 1,2,6,15 in 1st round) has got 300 yarrrds in 2 games. his overall is 79 but it should be way higher by the end of the year (ps. my backup is Bettis, whose 2nd all time in rushing yards(active playas))

re: ROOKIES

I picked up a RB in second round, he was projected to go in the 2-3 round. His rating was 69, but it rose to 72 after training camp and preseason. After 11 games he has 1150 yards, 6 rushing td's, 4 receiving td's and is averaging 4.1 ypc. Not to bad for a 69 rated draft pick. His speed in the draft was a 4.23 40. Turned out to a 99 rating. Thats why I got him. Love fast backs.

Fast back are the way to go. I always try to draft a fast RB. The problem is how do you know if he is fast or not in the scouting combine? His numbers will go up. My Rookie RB, Moore, I renamed him Franchise, has gone up almost 10 points in his first season!

re: ROOKIES

I just look at his 40 time. anything 4.35 or below will give you a 90+ rating. Every now and then that time is inflated. He'll have a bad 40 time, but he'll turn out with a high speed rating. Must have had a bad day at the combine?

re: ROOKIES

Chris Gamble is the best rookie I've ever drafted. He starts out as a 91 overall. Halfway through the season he has 8 picks and 4 were returned for touchdowns. And he is super fast.

True, fast backs are a good way to go, but with the improved AI in this game, I believe a good power back is a good way to go, because I see that the RB's in this game break more tackles than they should.

anyway, the best rookie I've drafted was Gerald Riggs from TN, he left my team in dynasty mode early, and I was able to pick him up in the first round. he was fast, and had good power as well. He started out at an overall of 85, then I worked him up to 95.

re: ROOKIES

i just wanna know why everyone thinks speed is the most important thing. speed is important, but the best thing is to have balance. if you can't break tackles then you don't go anywhere -- not when you play on a higher diffiulty anyway. if you play on all-pro or all-madden then the defenders will swim off blocks, take angle, & spear you. jamal lewis has like 88 speed, but i whenever i play as the ravens i put up big numbers cuz he won't go down. i'll take a back with high 80 speed & 90+ break tackle over a guy with 99 speed and low break tackle anyday. of course the best thing to have is someone like ricky williams -- 90+speed & break tackle. as i said -- the best thing to have is balance. all of you people who think speed is #1 need to watch a few more games. you'll see that the guys who really dominate are "balanced."

Guys don't get faster.

That is why you draft speed.

You can improve your 'Break Tackle' rating in minicamp.

re: ROOKIES

the point is that it's not wise to only look at speed. i have better games with jamal lewis than with clinton portis. it's easier for me to make maurice clarett a star than darren sproles. i'm not saying that i'll always pass on a guy that runs a 4.2, but if i see someone that runs a 4.4 & has 20 bench reps then i'm taking the second.

re: ROOKIES

The best rookie I've had is a running back out of Miami U. His name was LaMont Barber. He was a 1st overall pick and was rated 74. He ran a 4.17 in the 40! And had 26 bench reps. He was the best. Through his first season, he had 2100 yards and 19 tds. 58 rec 500+ yards and 6 tds receiving. His rating went up to 94! He was super fast and ran like Ricky breaking tackles. he was 6'1" and 212 lbs. But then in the first game of the next season, he got a career ending injury with a broken or fractured neck. So I had to settle with Michael Bennett on the Vikes.

re: ROOKIES

He went up 20 points? I find that hard to believe.

I drafted a HB in the 4th round, 68 overall. His speed is a 96. He actually breaks tackles. He has the "break 10 tackles in 1 game" madden challenge. He is so fast that he can find his way through a hole and break it for big yards. In training camp he gained 4 points. Now at a 72, he does break tackles but can sometimes get knocked down after the first hit. But nothing compares to his speed!

i assume you're talking about greg jones. anyway, i have managed to have the greatest draft class ever. for some reason alot of guys are staying til their senior years. kevin jones, stephen jackson, kellen winslow, reggie williams, david pollack, and andrew walter are all coming out in my '04 draft class. when running backs stay all 4 years, they come into madden with ratings in the 90s. i wish i had some explanation for this, but it's definitely the easiest transition in the video game world. i'm tempted to just throw my season, so i can get a shot at jones or jackson. oh yea, the best rookie i ever saw on the game was some fullback. he began with a overall rating of 97.

re: ROOKIES

My first season with the bolts i was able to draft Kenechi Udeze from USC and both Donterrious Thomas and Karlos Dansby from Auburn... i dont know how those two LB's were just chillen in the 3rd and 4th Rounds but they were and i snatched em... On top of that I also got Shaun Cody from USC... my defense is gonna be tight soon seeing that Davis and Jammer are both Pro Bowlers....

it depends on what teams are looking for. i've noticed that in the '03 drafr class, no LBs go early even if they're projected 1st-2nd round. same applies to alot or RBs. i've seen projected 1st rounders slip to the 3rd or 4th.
