re: ROOKIES

i had a rookie QB who finished 5 in the best QB and was a probowler. that year my 1st year HB was 2nd in MVP and best Rb. he went from 79-86 in 2 seasons which isn't much but he;s BTK is 97!!!!!!!!!!

BEAT THAT. the only prob is that he ain't that quick. but he always breaks the first tackle.

I'm telling you, speed is the way to go. I usually break 10 tackles a game with my speedy RB. The defenders usually just grab his shoulderpads and he shruggs them off. He bounces off other tacklers too. I am working on breaking the most yards in a season with him. I have 1,500 in 10 games. Marshall Faulk got the record controlled by the CPU so its now around 2,300 yards.

you do whatever works for you. i, on the other hand, have a much better running game when i have a power back rather than a speed back. i have my best games with jamal lewis, by the way(with the latest roster update he is up to 90 speed). also, there's no way you have a speed back that breaks 10 tackles/game. he's balanced, or you're playing on rookie. speed backs don't break tackles worth a damn on all-pro or all-madden. don't think i'm saying go get a slow guy by any means. my point early on was that speed isn't the only attribute that matters as some people seem to think. if you have a monster o-line and a good FB then it doesn't matter though. those guys should pick up blocks. however, eventually some LBs are gonna shut down your plays in the backfield. this is where power backs come in handy.

Well for you information, I play on All-Pro, I do break 10 tackles a game, and speed can increase on a player progression. My RB Spoto, has increased significantly in hie first year. Check this out!!!

quote jcal1120
The best rookie I've had is a running back out of Miami U. His name was LaMont Barber. He was a 1st overall pick and was rated 74. He ran a 4.17 in the 40! And had 26 bench reps. He was the best. Through his first season, he had 2100 yards and 19 tds. 58 rec 500+ yards and 6 tds receiving. His rating went up to 94! He was super fast and ran like Ricky breaking tackles. he was 6'1" and 212 lbs. But then in the first game of the next season, he got a career ending injury with a broken or fractured neck. So I had to settle with Michael Bennett on the Vikes.
why did not quit the game and save when this happend? id be soo p.o'd. what a shame.
i drafted chris perry from michigan and i traded for greg jones from FSU. they both have they're strong points. jones is more of a power back with enough speed to get a corner on a sweep, and perry is a nice recieving back with quickness. its kind of like thunder and lightning. but jones is a good back. im thinking about drafting Cedrick Benson in the next draft.

Hey I don't care that he is shooting up, as long as he produces. I don't have a zero tolerance rule, haha. Yeah that was his first year in the league. Now you can imagine him breaking 10 tackles per game! I actually go for the break 10 tackles in a game all the time. Its pretty easy with the stiff arm.

I am playing my 9th game of the season and I simulated the rest of the games. Spoto went up another speed point. So you can increase in speed!

when you import a draft class, does it have their real names? or just their numbers?

re: ROOKIES

you have to put the names in...

what i usually do is put them in as i play a team... say im playing the raiders, i look to see who the guys are without names, then i look up the schools the guys went to on espn.com and go from there...

its tedious but whatever its better than having guys with numbers

re: ROOKIES

Well there is a way, but you need to put Bennett on the shelf occasionally to do it. Here's how I did it.

I use the Giants and had Barber as my back. He kept getting tackled too easy so I set out looking for a back with some speed and more strength than Tiki has. I came across Willis MaGahee in Buffalo. They have 3 HB that are good (Willis is the worst) so it was easy to get him for next to nothing. McGahee was my 2nd string HB. I started subbing him in every 3 or 4 run plays by using the quick package option, it's called "spell HB" (in other words give your starting HB a breather. I did this for an entire season and actually McGahee had more TD's and Avg. Yds. per carry than Barber, but that's besides the point. At the end of the season his stats went up. Maybe not as much as him playing every down, but it still was significant. Then I ran him through Training camp and preseason. His OVR number went from a 69 to roughly 78 or so. I traded Barber since he wasn't being used and was still worth alot. after 2 more seasons, McGahee is now an OVR of 93. I hope this helps...

So basically sub him in on occasion it does help him improve and a good side effect is that when you use Bennett he'll be more rested and therefore faster, stronger and have a less tendancy to fumble. In this game running back by commitee isn't necessarily a bad thing. If you have a QB you want to improve, just sub him in when the game appears to be in hand. Remember, some playing time is always better than none playing time.
