re: NFL Thread V.07 |

Oh Yes to add on to what I was saying,
To the guys on this forum who consider NFL players to be heros... Ray Lewis is he your hero? a guy that beats his girl friend and leaves her in her aparement? Leonard Little, a guy that gets out gets drunk and kills a woman in an automobile accident... is that your hero? Darrell Russell, a guy that video tapes his friends sexual assaulting a woman... is that your hero? To add on to what Stinger was saying... How bout goood ol' O.J. ?? Is he your Hero? Take it from someone who has family on both sides of the picket fense here. Before I go to sleep at night, it isin't David I a praying for. Hes at home with Melody amd thier boys, sure what he does every sunday in the fall/winter of the year is great, but he isint my hero. The guy I am praying for is my other cousin, who is in Iraq as a Force Recon Marine sniper who is out there every day, every night putting his life on the line, Ruben is my hero. -------------------

I never said all NFL players were hero's. In any profesion you will have good n bad poeple thats life. You tellin me that cops don't beat there wives, Soldiers don't drive drunk? No you know why profesion does not dictate. As for Ray Lewis I haven't seen a single artical on the subject of him beating up his wife. Something like Ray Lewis beating anyone up would be huge news, but yet I haven't seen a word about it every where. So unless you can actually bring up some kinda of legit proof its just going to remain an internet rumor.

quote LaStChInEsEHeRoActually, I saw something about Ray Lewis having an out of court settlement with a "victim." I believe it's his girlfriend, rather than his wife also. -------------------

Sorry Bone but the victim they are talking about was the whole murder trial 4 years ago. The family of the guy who was killed brought a lawsuit for damages against Ray for obstruction of justice, Thats what that was in regards to. I mean if this really happened it would be pasted everywhere n sports shows (PTI, Around the horn) would be having huge discussions about it. Thats why this looks made up to me.

I thought I read about the Ray Lewis beating on the ESPN website, but when I went back to try and find it, it wasn't there. Odd. And searching the net didn't show anything either. I wonder if ESPN pulled the story when they couldn't verify it?

Ive seen a few rumors flying around that the Silver and Crack are interested in QB Kerry Collins. Also rumored is that if Collins accepts the starting job, Rich Gannon's tenure playing for the "Commitment to Excrement" will be over.
The two QBs are making nearly identical salaries, and Collins is 100% healthy, and also a few years younger than the ancient Rich Gannon. If Im going to pay 7 mil for a QB, I want the younger, healthier QB to lead my team. Interesting situation for the faders.....

NFL.com says that the Giants and Warner are talking? Hmmm... Warner's agent also says that he's interested in another team, but won't say which it is. So, there's about a 90% chance that Warner will be cut, since the Rams now have four QB's. (we got Smoker in the 6th round.) Maybe Warner is eyeing Miami?

I've heard the same thing CDemon. I really hope this doesn't happen for two reasons 1.) Warner wants to start and the Giants probably won't even give im the opportunity barring injury or really poor play on Eli's part. Then Brenda... err Kurt will become a distraction and/or a nuisance like he was in StLouis 2.) Warner is washed up and I don't feel he can teach Eli anything of use for him. The Giants would be better off signing Gannon (who I've also heard they're interested in) if the Raiders do indeed cut him.
Collins would be a good fit for the Raiders as long as their line holds up. His salary won't be that of Gannon, I'm sure he'd take less to start. He didn't want to sit behind Eli which is why he wouldn't restructure his deal for the Giants. So it does mke sense for the Raiders to go after him if they're uncertain about Gannon's shoulder and it would be a good move for the Giants to get Gannon if he's willing to play backup and teach Eli as well. ------------------- AC: CityFolk AC:CityFolk 3222-9423-3288 Name:Damon City: Maxville AC:CityFolk 3051-1443-8059 Name:Chris Town:Maxville (This is my fiancee's character, she plays more than me so add us both!)

Well I have heard many things bout this situation. I heard if Kerry dawns the black then Rich would be cut. But the things I heard out of Raiders camp is that Rich's shoulder is 100% now and he is hitting his throws with that laser guided accuracy he won the MVP with 2 years ago. That leads me to believe he will be kept going into 05. If Rich wants to be a starter without question, he knows he will have to be a Raider so he will restucture n stay a Raider.
How much stock do you put into the VERY poor performance of Eli in his first day at camp? Tom Coughlin said he looked like a dear in headlights out there. To me I think (and hope) that this will be a sign of whats to come for Baby Manning. Poor Tim Rattay, this is his year to shine n he tears his upper groining. He should start the season opener but will miss all ofthe camps. This message was edited by LaStChInEsEHeRo on May 08 2004.

oooooh. Groin tears are the WORST. And it doesnt take but just a little bit of a stretch the wrong way to re-aggravate it. Bad break for Rattay.
As for Eli, I dont think anyone is expecting miracles, and if they are, they are really pushing the wishful thinking to the far limits. History has not been kind to rookie Qbs who have to start their first year. I think Marino was the only one with a good record, going 7-2. The rest were massacred. Even Eli's brother Peyton went 3-13. So the Giants are going to have an uphill battle this season. Shaky O-line, Rookie Qb, running back with fumblitis, and a defense trying to carry the load, and defend the short fields that the turnovers put them up against. Its going to be tough. Not impossible, but very, very tough.

Whats insane is if both the Chargers n Giants start the Rook's, they could both be the 2 worst teams in the league. Which would mean that Diego would get the 1st n 2nd pick in the draft. I might think of starting Rivers n losing this season just for that possiblity.

quote LaStChInEsEHeRothat wood take a alot of cap room up, but man wood it b worth it. dont forget that the Chargers only won 4 games last year with FLutie and Brees starting, so they mite as well start RIvers. he cant do much worse then dead last!!! i think that if the Giants start Eli for the whole season, he'll eventually start to play well. They currently dont have ne1 else to start ahead of him aprt from the Bachelor!!!! Mj ------------------- NIRVANA ROKZ

Well in the Giants thing, they can start either
A) Eli Manning B) Jesse Palmer C) Jared Lorenzen I'd go with Eli, because who'd you start, Eli, the bachelor, or the"Hefty Lefty"but Jared Lorenzen dont look half-bad, he's 288 lbs., kinda fast and he has a great arm ------------------- Slimtastic says: therefore, bbiel = god That's How I Roll... bri says: bbiel ftw!
