One thing about the Saints maybe moving to LA if it does happen is that the NFL only re-aligned their divisions just a couple years ago when the Texans joined the league.
So it does not pay for the Saints, if they go to LA, to have to travel to Carolina, Tampa, and Atlanta every year. One possibility if this unlikely move does happen is for the Saints to switch places with the Rams in division alignment. The Rams currently has to travel to San Fran, Pheonix, and Seattle to play their division games, so it really makes no difference if they have to go to Carolina, Atlanta, and Tampa, all 3 cities of which is only a bit further away than those I mentioned out west. But I doubt the Saints will move in the immediate future. ------------------- ![]()

IMO on the whole TE thing, Winslow has much more potential then Tony G if you compare them at the rookie level. But it will take a lot of work to get Kellen from potential to the pro bowl. As far as Tony G being the proto type TE, have we forgotten Shannon Sharpe? Shannon was the first multi threat TE with the proto type body, who could do it all.

quote LaStChInEsEHeRoFeh. Shannen Sharpe is history. You cant be the prototype TE if youre retired. The guy was good, made a lot of catches, but he had Elway throwing him passes for most of his career, so he had it pretty easy from a QB/Reciever standpoint. The ball was usually right there, all he had to do was make the grab. Tony Gonzalez, most of his catches he has had to work his ass off to get. Circus grabs that are just thrown up for him to go get. Sharpe was a great routerunner, and good at getting open in the clutch. Tony is the guy you throw at if hes got 2 guys on him, and he'll still have a pretty good shot to come down with it. Sharpe has known very little mediocre QB play in his career. Most of it was John Elway. Tony Gonzalez has had clowns like Bono, Grbac slinging pure shit out there for him to try to bring in. As for Kellen Winslow, if he doesnt develop the work ethic and attitude required, he will be little more than just another Jeremy Shockey. A loudmouthed tight end out of Miami who thinks he's king shit. And for the record, any rookie TE that played college football is going to be considered to have more potential than Tony had as a Rookie. Tony played BASKETBALL in college, not football. So any rookie that played football in his college days naturally would have the advantage at the rookie level. He was a reach by Marty Schottenheimer, thinking that he could go up in traffic and pull the ball down in a crowd, much like in basketball. It took about 3 seasons for him to get going, but once he got it together, he's been raising hell with defenses ever since.

i dont think that you can say Sharpe is worse than Tony G just bcoz Sharpey had better QB's throwing to him.
Tony currently has Trent Green who isnt too bad, but i do understand wat ur saying about his bball background and adjusting to the NFL. i dont think hes as fast as Shockey or Winslow JR, but like Todd Heap, they can knock guys over and take sum pretty damn good catcheres, and they're the best receivers on their team, unlike Shock who has Toomer and Barber, and Winslow who will have Morgan and Northcutt(MAYBE). Sharpe doz have the record for most TD's by a TE, and was one of the originals Mj ------------------- NIRVANA ROKZ

Ricky will get suspended, there's no doubt in my mind. I believe the first offense is a two-four game suspension and the second offense is 4-6 games. I don't remember the specifics but you know what? It's illegal in life and illegal in his sport. He knew the consequences before he did it, I don't pity the millionaire, I pity his team. he let them down because of his selfishness and now they'll have to play with out one of the best backs in the league. All because Ricky wanted to get high. Ricky, I hope your teammates put you in your place in camp this fall, you deserve it. Sure, pot maybe isn't as bad as cocaine or steroids but those are the rules, hope the bench keeps your a$$ warm dude.

quote mj_da_best I didnt say that. Hello? Sharpe is a shoe in for the Hall. Tony Gonzalez is not. I simply made an observation. I also pointed out the difference in playstyle. Sharpe ran good routes, got open in the clutch. Tony doesnt have to be open to make the catch. 2 guys on him just drops his success rate a little, but its still very possible for him to make the catch.

quote The StingerIsn't it you that mentioned reading posts before commenting? I said even before Tony G, Sharpe was the prototype for TE. When Shannon made his name teams were phasing the TE position out, going more towards the run n gun offense's. TE was just a blocker n occasional receiver in the flats. Shannon sharpe changed that, now a TE was expected to block the LB's on run plays along with running the deep routes like a WR. He opened the door for a guy like Winslow who might have just been converted to WR 10 years ago. This message was edited by LaStChInEsEHeRo on May 23 2004.

quote mj_da_bestWhy does it matter if they are the best on their team? The opposing team sin't going to be placing a Corner on them are they? Most likely no, it'll still be a linebacker making it jsut as difficuly/easy for the others. Also the Browns have Andre Davis, who is shaping into something pretty good. -------------------

a few things- Dennis Northcut has signed a 3 year deal to remain a brown.
It looks like the Raiders have come to terms with Kerry Collins. Rumor also has it that Rich will not take a pay cut (Which is news because before it was reported that he would take one to remain a starter in Oakland.) So Rich willbe cut to make room for Kerry n his reported 3 year 4 mil deal. Honestly I don't like it, I have never been a fan of Kerry Collins. But as a fan fan of the nation I have to trust Al n the staff to make the best move for the team.

Rich isn't released yet. The deal with Collins is just a verbal agreement, no contract has been signed. Kerry could be using this as a ploy to get the Ravens to up the years or money. But as for Rich being a backup to a stuck up punk, i don't see it. Rich is a no none sense guy. WHen he first joined the Raiders he took away the pool balls cause it was to big of an distraction. He n Gru demanded that the team be focused on football, Players who weren't were cut eventually. How do you think he will fit in a team that quit on a coach they liked? or be on the same team as a guy like Shockey or Eli who are a bunch of whiners. IMO Rich couldn't stand it n would be gone after a season. Best thing for him would to be take a pay cut (Because he will be taking a pay cut anyway if he goes to another team) stay a Raider and make Collins take the starting spot, Rich has always been up for a challenge.
