re: NFL Thread V.07 |

I dont think of Elway. Elway himself was the one being the bastard in his situation, refusing to play for Baltimore, saying he would go play baseball.
This situation is just Eli's dad trying to look out for him. Archie knows what it is to be the best thing going for your team, with nowhere to turn for help. If I was his dad, I wouldnt want to see him go to SD either. They are pretty much looking like they want to turn into the old Bengals, with the horrible moves they are making. They have the good running back, and thats it. Just like all the Bengals had was Corey Dillon for so long. If Eli was saying he didnt want to be drafted by SD, then Id have a gripe with him, but this is just his dad trying to look out for him. He is pretty foolish though if he thinks that he actually has any say in what the Chargers do in the draft. San Diego should do what is best for their team, and if taking Manning at number one is it, then that is what they should do, no matter what Old man Manning has to say about it.

it mite sound stoopid but maybe Archie was doin this so SD pays Eli a packet load if they take him. i think they mite trade down so they can take Phil Rivers. i dont no y they'd want ne first round pick inside the TOP 10 if they want him, bcoz i dont think ne team's gonna take him in the TOP 15 or so. If they can get down to 11 and get a good WR (hilliard from Giants) and maybe an extra 3 or 4 picks they;d be set.

quote The StingerActually, last Wednesday, Eli himself, well, his agent, released a statement of him saying that he didn't want to go to the Chargers. So once the commissioner heard about that, he sent Archie to meet with San Diego's president of operations and Marty Schottenheimer. The meeting with them prompted Archie to say it then too. I saw this on sportscenter this morning... -------------------

I think Eli had a hand in what his father said. I mean, I don't think archie would tell his son where to go unless Eli expressed some feelings with him. Cuz the Colts I believe were 1-15 the year before they drafted Peyton and I didn't hear Peyton moan. So eli and archie should shut their traps and be grateful he has the chance to be the first overall and will be the highest paid draft pick. And who else will draft Eli if the chargers don't....New York will and if Eli can't handle playing for an up and coming san diego team with help from one of the great rb in the NFL with Tomlinson, imagine how he'll take the New York media when he throws a few picks in a game or plays horrible. He'll cry and run to good ol daddy. Peyton should give him one of those big brother beat downs for how he's acting right now.

re: NFL Thread V.07 |
quote rock5505 Actually, you're right. I think the Chargers are a better team than the Giants are at the moment. Tom Coughlin is a run-oriented ball control kind of guy, the Giants are not a ball control team. Especially with chronically fumbling Tiki. Also, unbelievably, the Chargers only let up 26 sacks last year, where as the Giant had I think... 49. (I know it was in the fourties.) So, sadly he'll be more protected in San Diego... and he'll have a target that can always get the ball in LT. -------------------

I think that Eli would be better off actually in NY, but listen, NY has better receivers than SD, Tiki's not as good as LT, but is still pretty good, i know that they have a wicked bad OL, but there's always Free Agency and the rest of the draft, i really think that NY would be better for Eli than SD

Yeah, that and the fact that NY isnt cutting players left and right. SD is creating 2 holes for every one that they fill. They have so many needs right now it is absolutely pathetic.
Supreme court Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg has rejected Maurice Clarett's appeal to overturn the decision to keep himself and Mike Williams out of the draft. There is still the slim chance that Williams and Clarett could make the supplemental draft, but as for being in the draft on the 24th, Clarett and Williams are officially out. quote K0nKuzh0nWhat I meant by that is The top 3 wrs taken woulda been roy fitz and mike. But since mike is not there because of the supreme court that moves reggie williams up to the 3rd best wr. So Reggie may not be there because theres a better chance for him to be drafted sooner than the Bills 13th overall pick. ------------------- http://www.abbygennet.com or http://www.slunt.net For your Abby Gennet viewing pleasure

quote rock5505oh ok, i think he will still be there. quote SmilezDavisyes he is. I think hes a top 3 LB myself, i was just stating that his speed isn't what makes him good. Also, he use to be the top LB in the draft by far. And now hes around 3rd, or even later, and could drop out of the first round. I use to see him get picked in the top 15 in mock drafts.

i don't see dansby dropping out of the 1st round. i think there's enough of a need at LB in the late 1st round that someone will take him.

you know with all this Eli stuff, I hope he does not become part of the Nation (Now a possiblity if the Chargers take Gallery. The Raiders n there fans don't like prissy QB's who need there daddy to speak for them. Thats why Jeff George lasted a year in the Black hole and a guy like Rich has thrived. Rich is a working class guy who doesn't play pretty he just gives it his all. While Eli is a rich tradition of QB's not in th Raider mold. IMO trade to 7 get William green n a 2nd along with the pick. Take Roy n lets play some football.

re: NFL Thread V.07 |

The Giants have shored up a weak OL this offseason so they shouldn't be nearly as bad as last year. I hope Eli goes to the Giants (in fact I'm giddy about it) If giving up a pick and Hilliard are what it takes, i say do it. Kerry Collins is a servicable QB but more often than not he doesn't make the plays when they need to be made. It'd be nice to have Eli on the sidelines this year learning and start next year when Collins' contract runs out. They have the recievers to be dangerous and if Tiki could hold onto the ball then the Giants should be as good as they were SUPPOSED to be last year.
But if they don't get Eli, then I'm hoping for Gallery. Both players seem like locks at their positions. Roethlisberger makes me nervous. ------------------- AC: CityFolk AC:CityFolk 3222-9423-3288 Name:Damon City: Maxville AC:CityFolk 3051-1443-8059 Name:Chris Town:Maxville (This is my fiancee's character, she plays more than me so add us both!)

you might have to count Eli out Chris Mortenson has reported that the chargers have turned down the Giants current offer n will most likely draft Manning n call him on his bluff.
