quote LaStChInEsEHeRothats a huge risk that they do not have to take. There has been people saying maybe draft Eli and then trade him, but that just sounds dumb to me because as soon as some one is drafted, their stock drops like crazy and you wont get what you want for him.

i think the best thing for the chargers to do in this situation is to trade out of that 1st pick. taking eli could be a huge mistake because he may sit out. if he does, it's just a wasted pick.
on a sadder note, pat tillman was killed in afghanistan. i'm sure everyone knows who he is and why he deserves the utmost respect. This message was edited by smilezdavis on Apr 23 2004. ------------------- Rocky Top...you'll always be Home sweet home to me Good ol Rocky Top Rocky Top, Tennessee

I think that SD wood be stoopid to take Eli. IF they like Phillip Rivers so much then trade with the Giants for Hilliard and a 3-4 rounder, then trade with Cleveland for maybe another 3-4 Round pick to move down to 7 and take Phil rivers. this will secure the Chargers for the future with all the new rookies, and hopefully Phil wont be a bust!!!

Honestly eli would have dropped on my draft board, A qb is suppose to be a leader in every situation. Whining about where you will get drafted doesn't show me leadership. :is comments bout this being his life n he controls his career is absolute BS. This whole manning family mystic has me baffled. So what Archie played n Peyton is in the league, how many super bowls did they win combined. You can teach a kid how to throw n make the right read, you can't teach heart and grit. For example when Peyton was faced with Mike's comments about his leadership what did he do? Went the girly route n called him names. Now that Eli is facing a percived problem what is he doing he's basicly quitting n saying "I don't want to", like a child. How many players bust there ass just to get to that level n you have the nerve to say you don't want to play just because you don't like the team. Suck it up be a man and try n turn the franchise around that's how legends are made n that's what great players do.

Agreed, LCH, but I really want to see Eli in a Giants uniform. I hope that if he goes to NY it'll be because SD made the trade and not because they were afraid of Manning's threats. I guess we'll all see at noon tomorrow...

ur point is welltaken LCH, but can u blame this guy for doin it. its the typical celebrity thinking. no1s eva told them not to, so they do it. ELI no's hes good, and everyone knows hes gonna be good. im all for that, IF HE WAS A WIDE RECIEVER!!!! u mite tihnk, WTF is Mj on about. well WR's are the playmakers on offense. they can win you games, and they can lose you games. most of the great WR's are total assholes (TO, Moss etc...) but not many great QB's are. they're usualy the quiet spoken guys who do their job without getting into the spotlight too much. how often do you here Trent Green complaining about having to give the ball to Priest, instead of throwing it himself? the same with the QB's from the Ravens.
i still think that Eli's gonna be a good QB, but he is still a little kid. i was watching the highlights of him and when he took his helmet off i was like 'how old is he?' coz he dont look older than 18. NY wood be betta for him bcoz he'll hav a year to grow up and become a leader. he'll also hav alot of support from Tiki and Amani Toomer, and hopefuly Jeremy SHockey can finally live up to his potential. DRAFT DAY IS THE 4TH BIGGEST SPORTING EVENT OF THE YEAR!!!!! Mj ------------------- NIRVANA ROKZ

For anyone thats interested (other teams may be doing this too, I'm not sure), but the Falcons have setup a Webcam in their Draft Room....I don't know if its going to be that exciting to watch, but still sounds pretty cool. You can find a link to it on their Offical Page.
Rick McKay has made it clear that they are going to mostly focus on Defense with the draft, and now that Mike Williams can't be drafted, it makes our #8 pick even more interesting....I can't wait. I kinda hope SD takes Eli, and then I hope a couple LBs get to him in pre-season....show him that he isn't playing some little school yard football game, this is for real now....show him that crying to daddy over a boo-boo doesn't help anymore. Suck it up and play, its what hes going to get paid millions to do no matter where he goes, and hes going to end up with a struggling team anyways....may as well be one that has one of the top RBs in the league, and not one that has a RB that fumbles the ball every other run. *Cough*Tiki*Cough* Vick basicly saved the Falcons Franchise, if I was Manning I'd take pride in knowing that I would have a chance at doing the same no matter where I went. He probably won't get much playing time until next year anyways, so anyteam he ends up with still has more time to improve for his starting year. Ha, I saw a interview with Eli in it the other day, at a glance his baby face almost looks like hes 12 or 13....maybe the make-up had a hand in that but whatever. Oh yeah, and SD said that they're going to do whatever is best for the team. Feels almost like Christmas or something....good luck, and hope everyone gets what they wanted, lol. quote mstpaintball I don't know what was better, the Chargers picking Eli, or the entire crowd booing the entire Manning family! Ha ha ha ha! Update: The Raiders have drafted Robert Gallery! Nice pick Raiders, nice pick. He's personally my second favorite player in the draft, second only to Larry. -------------------

Yea Robert a safe pick, but we all know that I really wanted to draft a WR. however if #7 rolls around n Roy Williams is still on the board maybe look for a trade. The biggest worry for the Nation was we trade with the Browns for the 7th pick but the Falcons jump ahead of us n select Roy at 5 or 6, so the Browns would get there guy n we would be stuck scratchin are heads. I think if Roy is there look for a trade.
I would just like to say i loved Eli getting Booed left n right by everyone.

The Cardinals have done as predicted and picked Larry Fitzgerald. And the Giants picked Phil Rivers with the #4...
Could this mean the Rivers/Manning trade is true? UPDATE: The Redskins pick Sean Taylor.. And with that announcement comes a biggie! The Giants give the Chargers Phil Rivers, a 3rd round pick, and their 1st and 3rd round picks of next years draft to San Diego for.. you guessed it, Eli Manning. This is THE greatest move I have EVER seen in Chargers draft history. Edit: Err... the Giants traded next year's 5th round, not the 3rd round. Silly Tagliabue... -------------------

And to top it off, the Giants end up with a baby and daddy still holds his hand.
It will be interesting to see if Eli can hold up against the New York press....I once saw Tim Couch cry over stuff like that.... -------------------
