Neoseeker PM System Q&A FAQ |
|
Any edits or suggestions? Please feel free to let me know via PM.
Can I send a PM? I am registered now, so how do I send a PM? How do I know if I get a PM? What the hell is a neofriend? Are there any rules for sending PMs? Can anyone check my PMs? What do I do if someone is annoying me? A member is really breaking the rules, who do I tell? Is there a way to organise/keep my PMs? Is there a limit to my PMs? Can I keep a record of my PMs? Is there a fast way to remove my PMs? It is taking ages to do manually. I have a different PM icon. What does that mean? I keep getting a flashing icon saying I have a new PM, but I don't. I had some messages from the NeoPM System, but they've dissapeared. Where have they gone?
Answer: A PM is a private message (which is what PM stands for) that can be sent between different members of the site. You can use it to ask questions, talk to friends or as a way of communicating official business (moderators and the administration). _____________________ Question 2: Can I send a PM? Answer: The ability to send a PM is a function for members. So, if you're not a member you need to register for free! _____________________ Question 3: I am registered now, so how do I send a PM? Answer: You need to go to your my.neoforum. It's a central hub for viewing and navigating your favourite forums and sending PMs. If you look on the right hand side, you'll see a PM section. Click the "Send a New Private Message" link. _____________________ Question 4: How Do I know if I get a PM? Answer: There will be a flashing icon ( _____________________ Question 5: What the hell is a neofriend? Answer: A neofriend is someone that you've added to your own personal neofriends list. This means you can see if they are offline or online (in your my.neoforum) and quickly send them a PM by clicking the _____________________ Question 6: Are there any rules for sending PMs? Answer: Yes, there is. The Forumwide Rules of Conduct, Etiquette And Acceptable Behavior apply. Anyone found breaking those rules regularly, will be punished. _____________________ Question 7: Can anyone check my PMs? Answer: The only people that can check your PMs are the admin. Even then, this will only be done in the most extreme circumstances. However, members should still not use PM as a method of communicating private or sensitive information. _____________________ Question 8: What do I do if someone is annoying me? Answer: If a member is really annoying you, then you can stop receiving PMs from him/her by adding him/her to your ignore list. _____________________ Question 9: A member is really breaking the rules, who do I tell? Answer: If you feel a member is really breaking the rules and has sent you a PM offending you, forward it (by clicking the Forward button when viewing the PM) to a site super moderator. At this time, the active site super moderators are listed here. In your forwarded PM, explain what the exact problem is. _____________________ Question 10: Is there a way to organise/keep my PMs? Answer: Yes, there is! Members can make personal folders (as many as you like) and separate PMs into them. To make a personal folder, you click the "manage personal folders" in your PM Inbox. You can add a new folder, edit folder names and remove folders. Once you've made a folder, you can move a PM to that folder by clicking the PM and doing it from inside the PM or move multiple PMs at once in the main Inbox page (where it lists all your PMs). _____________________ Question 11: Is there a limit to my PMs? Answer: Yes, as of version 0.8.8, there is a limit to the amount of PMs available. Members can have a maximum of 2500 PMs in their inbox. Moderators can have a higher amount of 7500 PMs. This is to prevent a huge strain on the servers as many members fail to delete pointless and insignificant PMs after they are no longer needed. If a person has reached their PM limit, your oldest PM will be deleted when you receive a new one. If you are over the limit for some reason, you will have to delete PMs to get you back under and able to receive PMs again. _____________________ Question 12: Can I keep a record of my PMs? Answer: Yes, you can. Because the limit was introduced in version 0.8.8 of the forums, a new feature was introduced to prevent any problems/issues. You can now archive your PMs. So you can download a copy of your private messages to your PC. That way you can stay under the limit but keep all your old memories! _____________________ Question 13: Is there a fast way to remove my PMs? It is taking ages to do manually. Answer: You can prune PMs. This means delete them from your inbox. This method is a lot faster than manually removing each page if you have a lot of pages in your Inbox. It works well when used with the archive function! _____________________ Question 14: I have a different PM icon. What does that mean? Answer: Don't worry. Apart from the usual icon ( _____________________ Question 15: I keep getting a flashing icon saying I have a new PM, but I don't! Answer: This is a recurring bug and it should be fixed in the next forum update! Until then, there's a few ways you can try and get rid of it. First of all, try resetting your PM Count. You can do that here. The other way is to try and log out and then back in. If that doesn't work, you're just going to have to try and bear with the problem until it's fixed. _____________________ Question 16: I had some messages from the NeoPM System, but they've dissapeared. Where have they gone? Answer: The NeoPM System is not an account, but a system coded to send messages (usually of an official matter) to people. A list of what it's used for isn't needed for this FAQ, but what you need to know is that they delete automatically after thirty days. So if you've got information within them you wish to save, you may wish to save it elsewhere. _____________________ [size=1][color=#666666]This message was edited by Enigma(moderator) on Nov 29 2009. | |
