re: Games Graphics

This game is going to have PS2 graphics, which rocks cause we will get to see how Liquid, my favorite chracter, really looks like.

I think they look better than the MGS2 graphics. The guards clothing looks a lot smoother (even better than in the XBOX or the other consoles) along with the goggles that Solid Snake has in that suit

Isn't it using the MGS2 Graphics engine?

re: Games Graphics

It's using the MGS2 engine but that doesn't mean the graphics can't be better. Plus this is on a different system unlike the PS2 or XBOX. IMO the graphics look better and smoother especially in the character models however Cobra2 disagrees and i know others will (no problem with that). However some of the stuff you see now (or don't see now) such as footprints in the snow will probably be added later. This is Konami and i'm sure they won't forget about the little things... they're all about the little things

That will actually be hard to do, MGS2's graphics were virtually flawless.

They were amazingly good yes, but not unbeatable or soemthing. I still think some of the cutscenes from FFX weren't touched by MGS2, but many would argue against that.

Personally I think the graphics will be fine. They look really good, and generally, as long as the graphics don't suck they don't come into play that much .

re: Games Graphics

You mean the pre-rendered cutscenes from FFX? Yes they were amazing, but unrealistic in a way....just their shinyness...or something...ya know?

Nevermind.

Back on topic, its a mistake a lot of us make, see graphics which are mind-stonkingly good, and think their unbeatable, and then something comes along and sweeps the floor with it.

FF : The Spirits Within looks good now, but give it a couple of years.

Its like I thought Mr. Gregson Williams simply couldn't compose a score better than MGS2 : Sons of Liberty, but the MGS3 theme tune is better

re: Games Graphics

You guys might be in from a Shock...

The ATi(actually Art-X) processor in Gamecube is far superior to the Toshiba PS2 GPU. The CPU in the Cube is actually more powerful than the X-Boxes. Few believe this as most are ignorant and know little about technology. The Cube processor maybe clocked slower, but(to make it simple for you guys) is more efficient than the Intel Celeron/PentiumIII(That's right it's a watered down Pentium 3, value lined) in the X-Box.

So the Gamecube has the hardware... Now here is the bad part...

The engine for MGS2 was coded for the PS2's Emotion Engine(Sony's version of TnL, Graphics Engine), and that code really will not click well with the Cube unless it was heavely modified. Another issue I see is that the PS2 version was HEAVELY Aliased. I mean, the jaggie lines were RIDICULOUS! I see the stupid developers pumping up the level of Anti-Aliasing on the Cube and totally MURDERING the framerate. I really am not expecting smooth gameplay.

From the screenshots I've seen, the jaggies are just too minimal, a PS2 port with that many polygons cannot be THAT jaggy free on the Cube. The Cube(IMO) is the most powerful of the group, but it can't handle it.

Let's face it, the chances of this being a good game are minimal. Ports about 80% of the time are not what we expect, I'll put money down the framerate will suck.

What Konami should do is screw consoles, and re-code the game for the ultimate gaming machine, the PC. You can't AIM on a console! MGS2 came to PC but it was SOOOO poorly coded!

So to sum all my ramble up, the framerate will suck suck suck! (I'm a PC gamer with a Cube and PS2, I like the Consoles, but I'm use to my 150FPS on my PC, I can't take anything that's not flowing like Niagra falls in a game!)

re: Games Graphics

I wonder how soon it will be when a games attain the "pre rendered" video graphics FFX has, just in the entire game...

Anywho, I personally think NGC has smoother graphics than PS2, so I wouldn't be surprised if the graphics beat MGS2...

I'll disagree with you on that. Konami wouldn't release a game like that. They'll probably recode it right and beautiful before release...infact, that might be the reason the release was suddenly delayed 4 months!

BTW, I haven't heard the MGS3 theme...can anyone provide a link to the trailer of MGS3?
