re: Games Graphics

I think this game has some of the best graphics you can find anywhere. They are also extremely bloody and gory, but i'm not complaining.

re: Games Graphics

i wouldn't say TTS has the best graphics you can find, there good, but not even close to the best, when there are games like Half-Life 2, Doom 3, Halo 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, Resident Evil 4, Onimusha 3, i could go on but i won't

re: Games Graphics

I think the graphics are some of the best on the GCN, but I honestly think MGS2's graphics are better. Some of the character models (especially the guards) have a sheen to them that seems better than MGS2's, but I was playing both games today and MGS2 seems slightly better in the graphics to me.

Have any of you noticed some very VERY slight cel-shading technology on the character models? They're not done to make the game look unrealistic, but to add to the self-shadowing and the smoothness of the characters. Have any of you noticed it as well?

I would have to agree with you cobra2 theres summit about MGS:TS graphics that just dont make them seem as good or realistic as MGS2. Im not sure if its snakes much younger look in TS compared to MGS2 that makes me think the graphics arent as impressive but for some reason the face models of certain characters mainly SNAKE himself just dont seem as realistic and impressive as seen in MGS2.

I will also agree with you mainly because i have noticed myself about the guards and there sheen, they do seem to have a kinda plastic manakin (that prob aint spelt rite) kinda texture to them, but the amount of different skin colours and eye layouts is impressive very few guards seem to look identical which is a great touch.

I havent noticed a cell shading technique at all but ill keep a look out for it.

All in all though i think the graphics are some of the most impressive seen on a GCN (next to Resi remake but remember resi has pre rendered backgrounds TS barely has none) or any console for that matter, the cutscenes are truely amazing and effects like water, snow, rain are some of the best to date seen in a game, plus this game must have the most realistic blood effects ever - the scene with the ninja cutting up all the gaurds in the corridor the blood looks as real as can be.

All we need now is for this to be released on the PS2 and it could be even better running on MSG2 or even MSG3's graphic engine. Maybe a pitition with 1000+ names on it for a PS2 version maybe a good start.

re: Games Graphics

They should've included shadows in this game, like when you stand under a light, it would cast a shadow.

I like it though how when you kill a gaurd then keep shooting him, blood goes everywhere, especialy with the FA-MAS.

But i am slightly disappointed that they did not include blooded footprints when you walk through puddles of blood, but i think they included them for water, i'm not sure.

I also like how when you are in the undergorund freight elevators with all the ravens, if you go to first person view, one of them craps on the screen, it was a neat little extra.

Play the game again and open ya eyes, watch carefully and u will notice shadows are in the game, if u wanna test this start the game go up the elevator past the heliport where u first see the Hind D go to the 2nd level of the building and stand next to the spotlights & a shadow will be cast up against the wall.

Man do u play the game with ya eyes closed? only kiddin but seriously if u walk through a puddle u leave footprints (it is after all practically MGS2 game engine)

That is also another thing thats from MGS2 game engine, how come u see bird shit but you cant see shadows??

re: Games Graphics

Cel-shaded or no, shadows or bloody footprints caused by a wildy firing Famas, did anyone drool when the motion blur started working during the boss cutscenes? It sure tricked my eyes out. Even if the Cube didn't put the same work into MGS as the PS2, there are bits and pieces that blow your mind, no question there.

I like the matrix style "bullet time" during the Vulcan Raven battle intro and during the jeep chase, i think there were some others too, but i thought that was kool.

Oh yeah, the bullet time effects were awesome. The graphics weren't that bad either, guys. I mean hell, this game does have some eyecandy*.

Gray Fox scene, anyone?

re: Games Graphics

Im agreein wtih cdemon (and that happens about as often as the eclipse of the sun) the cutscenes are spectacular and action packed and even the slower scenes are brilliant, the graphics are top notch and so are the effects, but TTS doesnt look as detailed when it comes to character models as SoL was.

Just wondering here but has any1 used the thermals in TTS they seem to have the proper thermal effects now like splintercell? if so is it just my memory playing tricks on me but werent the thermals in the original and SoL just red, with like the white of the enemys body as heat?

re: Games Graphics

Yes, the Thermal Goggles in the original and SoL only demonstrated different shades of red. However, since the Xbox release of MGS2: Substance came out, the MGS series has had the Thermal Goggles look more realistic. MGS2: Substance on PS2 also had the TG's look like they do in the Twin Snakes.

As far as the game as a whole goes; I wish the game would use more colors than just the greys and greens, it really makes the game look kind of bland in the environments. Overall though, I'd say that there are some parts of the game that looks better than SoL, while the other parts look worse than SoL, so it all evens out to me.

I love the thermal goggles! They're so much better than the original drab red . Playing Metal Gear Solid with updated graphics and new updated videos is a real treat. I love all the tiny details, like the way the tubes flop around when running while Snake is in his wet suit! So Cool!

re: Games Graphics

Hey Alias, good to see you've played the game finally.

Anyway, once the 'oooh' and 'aaaahh' factor of the game's graphics is over, you'll start to notice that the game could've and should've looked quite a bit better than it did. I noticed the way the tubes moved on Snake's scuba suit moved as well, and I thought it was awesome. But that's just one of the examples of the game looking better than SoL in some parts, while looking worse in most others.
