[ Help ] Gassed Room

After Meyrl Opens the LEvl. 5 door it gets gassed.What do I do!!!!!HElP plz.

It gets gassed because you've tripped the infared sensors. All you gotta do is equip your thermal goggles and when the bar goes up, run underneath it.

i found it easier crawling under, and if you dont have the thermal gogles, use cigs.

Crawling doesn't necessarily help because the laser beams move up and down, floor to ceiling. If you have thermal goggles, they work the best because then you can just run past each laser with relative ease, plus you won't lose health like you would with the cigarettes.

yeah, thats true, but i only put the cigs just in case the person dosnt have the goggles. plus, when your running, it is easier to hit the laser as your standing. well, in my opinion, crawling was much easier. you can just get in your crawling position and start crawling immediatleley after the first laser is above you.

But crawling takes longer. You know what I just noticed? You can shoot out the power thingies to those infared beams. Just pull out your socom (if you have a surpressor), and aim for the boxes that have blinking lights (should be to the left). Hit 'em, and you don't have to worry about 'em anymore.

Good point Cdemon, I'll have to try that during my second game file. That's really the beauty of having the MGS2 game engine in the MGS story though, you have several different routes you can take when making a decision, so the game is no longer so linear. Only one thing, make sure your shots are precise, because one slip up and all that C4 is blowing up right in front of you.

Yea i remember seeing those after opeing the 2nd door didint think about shooting them. Good find. I agree with the crawling it may be slower but u have pleanty of time to go under.

Well, I would assume that those blinking lights are attached to some sort of explosive device, otherwise it would be much too easy to just pass by. It's possible that it is in fact that easy though.

Theres tons of improvements thanks to the MGS2 engine, not sure if anyone has noticed it but ocelot this time around is much more intelligent and difficult to kill compared to MGS1 (im playin it on normal so i dont know about easy or v.easy) but to help defeat him there are several little additions thanks to the MGS2 engine for example u can shot gas pipes that are situated around the area to blind him leaving him open to enable u to run into clear veiw for a head shot, 2nd point although i dont know how i did this (random shooting trying to get used to the controls on the GCN) but areas of the wall/ceiling can be shot and create daybre (unless this was just a different pipe shot, but u get the idea.

Also situated throughout the game are fire extinguishers which you can shoot for cover, not suggested if you have not been spotted. Also, even though this has no relevence, you can shoot down locker doors and stall doors.
