re: Dissapointment of EVE Online

I can't believe people actually pay that much for a game where all you do is click and watch your ship fly around for you.

This game takes no skill, its all about who has the most RL money(or whoever kisses ass to get free stuff in-game and exploiters).

I would rather have a low-graphics game that takes skill than this "movie" you overpay for. Eve is more of a fancy politics game than a space mmo. Plus "skill" is what you click once on and wait for hours or days to gain rather than playing and actually getting real skill.

Even starcraft, a $10 game from 98, has more strategy/skill needed than this pos game.

There's a lot more to Eve than that, shame you can't see that, if all you do is click and watch you will die horribly.

I'm sorry but that's not true, i've seen people buy themselves a lot of expensive ships and die because they have no idea how to play the game. You have to do what to put on your ship, how to use it, when to engage and when to just gtfo.

Free stuff in game? I've been playing 4 years and this is news to me.

As for exploiters i've yet to come across anything game breaking that wasn't patched in a matter of days, and even if something is discovered the threat of the ban stick is generally enough to stop most players from doing it.

There is a lot more to eve than point and click, i'll be happy to fight you if you believe you can just click and win. I will even use one ship class smaller than you.

You get "real" skill from playing, from engaging people, knowing how to lower transvertial when you are in a small ship so you don't get hit, knowing whether it's best to active or buffer tank for the upcoming op. Knowing how to chase off that enemy interceptor that is pinning you down.

I've been in a cruiser and got away from an interceptor, assault ship and 2 battlecruisers that all had me locked down, i'm sorry but that comes down to more than click on my skills, I also managed to kill one and chase one off.

Then you know what to do don't you.

re: Dissapointment of EVE Online

EVE is a brilliant game and I'm going to tell you why...
Im obssessed with Sci-Fi, books, movies, games you name it! I was looking for a new MMO when I found this little diamond with a small ad on some backwater site. I signed up for the 14 day trial and I was blown away! The amount of exploration is incredible! There so much to see and discover like deserted space craft, wormholes, space anonamiles etc. The combat is alot of fun when you move up to the bigger class of ships! And they keep getting bigger (for example a Titan vessel)! The corparations are great aswell because every aspect of them is player run, in fact, thw whole of EVE is player run which I think is great! This is not a game for casual players, it will take a while to get somewhere, but if you put the effort in, then you will be rewarded!

re: Dissapointment of EVE Online

I agree with everything you've said apart from combat being more exciting in bigger ships.

I much prefer frigs and tech II cruisers for my Pvping.

And Titan combat exciting? Have you flown a titan? You can use there weapon once an hour, you can't dock so you need to be VERY trusting of your corp if you want to leave the titan or have a holding alt.

I personally think they're the most boring thing ever to fly and paint a huge target on your back.

Not a good game. If you are a noob good luck getting anyone to talk to you much less answer questions. Yes this game is involved. So much so that it is confusing as hell and with no one willing to answer questions it makes it impossable to get anyware. Now if this was a free game I would be willing to put up with that but seeing as that you have to pay to play they should greatly improve their tutoral so new plays will know how to play. However it is very nice looking game but nice looking only goes so far. Dont waste your money on this game.

re: Dissapointment of EVE Online

If your a noob, there are places to go that will help you however.

There is an entire alliance dedicated to teaching new players how to play the game (EvE University). And they are good at it. (Plus, when you leave them and look for another corp, when people see that you were in EvEUni, it means a good amount, since it means that you [should] know a good deal about the game and they won't have to hold your hand.)

Slayer SOD, have you seen what they are doing to titans recently? While, abet they are a little... pre-nerf'd, they no longer are an once an hour deal. But ya, frigs and cruisers are much more exciting to me as well. Though
I have to admit that it can be heart pounding when your BS is about to die and you manage to barely win.

I really hope the neoseker will make a new forum and make a mention of it when Dominion comes out...

re: Dissapointment of EVE Online

I kinda made account cuz of this thread and because i got lead from Encyclopedia Dramatica.

I like to compare EVE's pvp and WoW's pvp often, mainly in the communication area:

WoW: "F*cking noob why didnt you f*cking heal me!"
"But im a Paladin!"
"f*cktard you heal me so i can tank f*cking go suck your mum's d*ck"

EVE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAAczC7PPIo

all i need to say.

WoW fact proven by my friend who did play private servers (we both also used to play normal WoW)

we both play EVE Online atm
