hopesfire vs. trueflame |
|
I've been playing the game for years, and it still boggles me as to how people choose hopesfire over trueflame as a better weapon... can anyone attempt to explain how exactly it's better?

They are basically identical, except Trueflame does fire damage and Hopesfire does shock damage. If you are going to be wandering around Morrowind, you might want to use Hopesfire because Dunmer have a high fire resistance. It really doesn't matter that much though...one or two hits from either will kill just about anything in the original Morrowind.

Also I can't remember the exact stats but I do remember that Hopesfire has slightly better stats than Trueflame.

It is pretty much a toss-up. Trueflame does 5 more points of base damage, but its magical effect is fire damage, while Hopesfire does shock damage. As rbmoney noted, Dunmer have fire resistance, and it is also the case that there are more monsters that are fire resistant than shock resistant. So, Hopesfire may actually be the more effective weapon in general use. But against non-Dunmer NPCs, Trueflame is going to do more damage.

yes, i don't like trueflame as well because of those *bleep* flames. the screen gets too bright - i have to us the 3rd person to see anything. and, its obvious hopesfire is more powerful - hopes fire belonged to a god (well, goddess) while trueflame belonged to a hortator. so, you do the math... ------------------- I'm one of three co-founders! ![]() Credit to Colt4 for the banner! re: hopesfire vs. trueflame |
quote nerevarsdeathNerevar was not a god when he got trueflame. He still died at Red Mountain, and even before his death, trueflame was apparently shattered to pieces. Hopesfire was kept safe, so it retains the craftmanship of the original dwemers, whilst trueflame was reforged by that mournhold smith. Trueflame is slightly better in base damage but hopesfire can swing faster. Hopesfire enchantment is also better against Dunmer. Also, it's more fitting to carry hopesfire since you are Morrowind's new hope, and you're just a fake Nerevarine so you wouldn't be the 'true' flame.

He got killed by Almalexia, Sotha Sil, and Vivec. They shattered his sword after they killed him, but Almalexia took the pieces back to Mournhold with her and sold the pieces except for one piece. ------------------- Eat! he was still not god. Just a chimer king leading his people and following the ways of Azura. Nothing within Elder Scrolls Lore depicts him as a god, nor does the sword make the wielder a god either. Nerevar was simply a man (well elf) who was betrayed for power and immortality ------------------- ![]() ![]()
