One thing you might try, if you have not done so already, is to go into Data Files, select Tribunal and Bloodmoon, save those settings, and then shut down the game without trying to play. Then run the game again and select Play without going into Data Files. I know that sounds like it shouldn't make any difference, but it has sometimes made a difference on my machine.
Also, in case this is a memory problem, you should shut down anything else that is running on your PC to free up as much RAM as possible. What operating system are you running? If you are running Windows XP on that much RAM, then it may be the operating system itself is hogging too much memory for you to run the game with both expansions loaded.

Yes, I play the PC version. I am not an expert on PCs, though.
I don't believe you are going to be able to reduce the amount of RAM that XP is using, but there may be other applications or processes running on your machine that you could shut down to free up some RAM.
You probably have some applications that start up when you start the PC and then just run in the background continuously. You can see some of what is running by checking the icons in your system tray, at one end of the status bar on your desktop display. You can also go into Task Manager (press Ctrl+Alt+Del and then click the Task Manager button) and it will show you everything that is running, and how much memory is being used. Just shut down the stuff you don't need while you are playing the game. After you finish playing, restart your computer, and it will load all of those automated applications and processes again.
This may or may not help you. I would think that with 1Gb of RAM, you should be able to run Morrowind with both expansions, even on XP, so there is probably some other problem that is causing the error. But, you never know.

I had those problems too once... I know how to solve it, but I forgot in which order. First you have to uninstall the game. Then reinstall the basic morrowind. The problem starts when you install the wrong expansion first. I think you have to install the tribunal, THEN the bloodmoon (or the other way around) then the problem should be fixed. It worked for me. Chunk size too big might still occur, but it doesn't matter. Just press continue anyway.
