re: Morrowind's best "bases" and "houses"???

If anyone likes the weird red lights and such that has been mentioned before... the entire place is not like it but it is interesting.

I was in Ald'rhun looking for a sleeper to talk to and get credit for saving them. Well I found 2. The first one didn't give me a journal entry so I persisted and mentioned Ash Statues and then she attacked me. Anyway after I killed her, the basement door was locked and once I opened it it had a creepy Red-Altar room with quite a bit of storage. It's a nice place with three small levels.

The other sleeper was in his home (like the gal before) and I did get a journal entry with him.

So I guess now I have a few bases...

1.& 2. Foryn Gilnith's Shack & Indrele Rathryon's Shack-- the one across from it (that's deed is in Vivec library) Seyda Neen

3. Hlaalu Manor in Balmora

4. Hlaalu Stronghold Odai Plateau

5. Former Wizard's Manor in Mournhold.

6. Ms. Super-long name. Ald-ruhn (Hanarai Assutlanipal's?)

7. "Vacant" Manor Mournhold

There are tons more places but I am sticking to places that hopefully will not negatively effect my game.

And some tips for people... Storage appears to be arranged by weight. Different containers hold different weights.

Crates 200
Chests 200?
Closets 200?
Drawers 200?

Urns 100

Barrels 50
Sacks 50

Small Chests 25

Perma corpses? Pretty limitless but best to be careful.

I like Tel Uvirith, the Telvanni stronghold. At level the third stage, it has(I think) four houses outside of your tower, each of them offering services, there's some grandmaster's alchemic equipment in the actual tower. It comes with its own nice, cozy little dungeon, complete with it's own dead body , some nice little display area's, the only problem I'd see with it, is if you either hate using, or don't have, or can't use, levitate.

I just finished the Mournhold main quest last night so I am interested in Solstheim bases. So are these areas with storage at least and maybe even a bed?

yup all 3 do, raven rock being the best since it is a mini-town with your own stronghold inside it

Fort Frostmoth is like any other fort and Skall Village is again a mini-town

Great! Solstheim isn't that big but still having to go back to one base would be kind of annoying. Course I still have to make some decisons. I have avoided talking or interacting with ANYONE in Solstheim, but now I can. Just need to decide if I should do East Empire first or the Main Quest.

I have high hopes for Solstheim that there might be some cool quests.

The Bloodmoon/Solstheim Quests are my favourite. You should do the East Empire Company Quests first.

I did both at the same time since most things in both quests were close to each other

also make sure you have a few spare saves handy

Ahhh yes. I have been careful not to read that much of the details. But I mean the game on the back says you can fight the werewolves or join them. So that's not a surprise.

And I would want to try them both of course.

Reminds me of something I need to put in general discussion...

re: Morrowind's best "bases" and "houses"???

There is a quest in the fighter's guild in Balmora. I think it's the first one, but not too important. Just do the one about the "Cave Rats." After you kill them all, use the upstairs room for storage. There is a nice bunch of crates, a chest, ect. You don't have to kill anyone (Which could lead to breaking quests, if you people care...) and it's pretty accessible by Mages Guild teleporter, and silt strider. Just don't do anything with the pillows, and put most of your items in the containers so there is no super-obnoxious "Overflow Loot Bag." That happens when there is too many items in an area. Each crate and room counts as a seperate are, pretty much every time the game pauses and loads an area. So smaller is kind of better.
BTW: Argonians should NEVER be slaves, shame on all you Telvanni. Snaketongue (My Argonian) could eat the whole house Telvanni for breakfast. But has never killed anyone out of anger, taunting, ect. They must hit first.

i like nerano manor in balmora. it's not huge but it's big enough. it has like 15 the tables in the first room for a bunch of cool items and there is plenty of barrels, crates, sacks etc. in store rooms throughout the house. it is pretty good for a begginers house.

Ok i was bored 1 day and i was checkin out Ald-run.The manors in the manor district(the huuuuge building) are absoulutly insane. i mean there huge. The 1 i took over is the Venim manor. Inside is no gaurds but your crime will be reported(just go to balmora thiefs guild and get rid of the price on ur head but its worth it.
