quote FalderalSome people say they find tonberry in one of the first side rooms. Personally, I've had better luck past the save sphere in the little lighted area just before the room. Still, it does take a while to get all 10 of them.

quote Pro ShadowI think you're right with that pro shadow, managed to get 5 tonberry by loitering around that little lit area, but before that I hadn't even seen a snifter of a tonberry. Cheers for that! Managed to tidy up quite a bit today - only got another 5 of Tonberry, and another 6 of Barbaros or whatever he's called, from inside Sin and that'll be that slog over. Happy days!

re: Missing Monster from Sunken for Species Conquest... |
quote SequenceIs the 'green room' the very back of the cave? Just past the save point, as you walk down to it, it's very green with green orb things swirling around. Maybe that's where they mean. Just around the swirling green orbs area at the entrance to that room is where I've got my 5 of Tonberry today. Don't go too far into the room, just hovver around the entrance to it. According to the testings of many many many people, that theory is BS. I'd say you got lucky, not that I'm complaining. -------------------

No, I didn't mean it like that. I just wanted to slip the info that you got lucky this time (and you should be thanful for getting lucky with the tonberries XD), it's not a consistent thing to be able to get Tonberries in that room. Just a fluke. -------------------

I always hunt for them in the green room too. Apparently the increased encounter rate is supposed to be bull (as Sparky mentioned), yet it always works wonders for me. I can't say for definite, but I'm sure there are encounters you cannot get into in the green room, which may explain why it seems to yield good results (for me at least <_<). Could be speaking from my backside though. XD

quote Villa ftwYeah. Me, Kurono, and Ultima (and probably others who did't say it) believe that you can never fight Thorns or Yowies in the green room, thus raising the odds for finding all the other encounters (not specifically the tonberry). You DO get more tonberries, it's just that they're not the only one that gets a boost in encounter rate. topic that the info I mentioned in is on GFAQs. -------------------

re: Missing Monster from Sunken for Species Conquest... |
quote SoulSparkI don't think it's anything to do with luck - look at my first post and you can see I've nearly got 10 of everything else, yet no tonberry at all. Then I get 5 tonberry very quickly by hanging around there? I went back there later as well and got the other 5, so there's more to that than luck/fluke I'd say. btw, it's not actually in the green room, but right at the entrance to it, just where the rocks are, and I found that I got good mix of battles and a higher frequency of less common encounters, and, that little area is the only place I was encountering Malboro & Defender as well. I also found with Simurgh (sp?) on Djose Highroad that I could only encounter it at a certain place - go to djose highroad on the airship, then go up onto the highroad, go round the corner and past the save point and just a little bit further on from that is the only spot I seemed to encounter it. Out of all the monsters, I think it took me the longest to get 10 of them. I've got 10 of everything now. Happy days!
