Hey all.
If managed to kill all the colossi in time trail mode and now im almost finnished with hard more so i can go HTA mode. However beeing fed up with killing colossi for a while, i was exploring the land and reading about secrets and glitches. Will it has come to my attention that some things are either impossible or virtually impossible in the PAL version of this game (atleast its my impression, so please correct me if im wrong).

-climbing the castle with the diagonal jump. In the PAL version, jumping diagonaly takes up as much stamina as a normal vertical jump. So its impossible to get up to the castle i think. Some people claim to have gotten up there after running trough the game 3 or 4 times and killing all the lizards over and over again. This seems kinda farfetched to me? Is it even possible in PAL version?

-the ico beach: Can u reach it in the PAL version? I have not found it yet. Can anyone give me rough description of how to get there ?

-the jumping stab. I have killed every colossus many times now, yet i have NEVER been able to do a jumping stab once. It seems impossible in the PAL version. if i am wrong plz tell me how to do it.

-Changing horse collor. Doesnt seem to work either :s

-Individual colossi bugs. Bugs and jumps used to kill colossi faster in time attack mode. I find that many of the Hard Time Attack tricks do not work in the PAL version. Notable examples are the jump to the head on colossus 3. (if u get lucky u can jump straight to his shoulder, i can usually pull that off after a few times, but his head: no way).

Another one is jumping on colossus 15 his leg. If u try that in PAL version u will hit his kneecap and fall down again. Sometimes due to bug u CAN jump high enough to reach his knee but there is no place that lets u grab on.

Another one is the colossus 1 trick, where people jump straight from the ancle to the back without even stabing it. Impossible in HTA. Ive also seen a movie of a guy who stabs him twice then runs to his head and jumps on. this IS possible in PAL mode, but u have to try it twice cuz the first time u do it, it shows a movie of the colossus falling on his face. U cant cut the movie and by the time u regain control over Wanda, its already to late...

There are more, like jumping on colossus 4 via his leg. Impossible in PAL version. Jumping on the colossus at the volcano is also impossible as far as ive seen in PAL

It seems like the authors of the game deemed allot of these things as BUGs and Glitches, and decided to remove them for the PAL version. I dont know it that was a good thing tho
sure makes everything allot harder. I really wanted to get into the garden, but now i have to finnish the game over and over again, kill lizards all day and then maybe i can get up there (probably not cuz ive not seen evidence of a PAL player making it up there...)

please correct me if i am wrong. Only if u have played the PAL version pls.

1) The devs took out the diagonal jump glitch and a spot in the climb so that you could not get there easily. The normal way to get to the Secret Garden is to beat the game 4 times, or beat it 3 times while eating lots of white tailed lizards.

2) Ico beach is south of the "Sand Snake" Colossus, and North of the "Bearded Colossus".

If you go further up the cliff path (you'll know what I mean when you're there) you will see something real strange...

3) R1 + square (stab button) while you are jumping.

4) You have to hold square at the Title Screen once you have beaten all the Time Trial Colossi on a normal play-through. Hold it while loading your game. After you start playing Brown Agro should appear. For White Agro you have to defeat Time Trial on Hard, then hold down the circle button at the title screen instead.

5) These are not bugs nor glitches, simply game physics. The game is really realistic and has many cool movements like the sword jump for #3 or the leg to head jump on #9. However they are real complex and you will need to practice a bit. They all work. You are just not "experienced" enough yet. Sorry, but it's true. =(

Also on #1 you can control Wander DURING the cutscene. #15 is a really hard, complex jump. #4, just keep practicing.


Yes I have NTSC, but I know they did not delete anything in the PAL except for the diagonal jump glitch and SoW climb wall glitch. Also what is this "volcano" you speak of?

Now here is my question for you: In the ending of the PAL version, do they have a squirrel in the Secret Garden scene?

honestly i am not sure

i remember the baby deer, the doves and yeah i think there was a squirel also but i am not 100 percent sure. if i got some free time this weekend i will look into it (got a savegame somewhere for the last boss)

and thx for the reply. Yeah i guess im not skillough yet. Its really frustrating tho cuz sumetimes the game just doesnt wanna work with me.

like on colossus 2 i wanna use the physics to jump from his shoulder to hi head but he just doesnt shake..even if i stab ort shoot him. or like on the dirge colossus, after i stab his first vital 3 he always goes under again, no matter how fast i go...etc...etc

I heard from a trusting source that the PAL version had a squirrel, so I was in good luck when you came by. I wish they'd show the ending on YouTube, but all of it is mostly NTSC. I hope this can answer the question.

BTW those jump you are trying to do, require much patience, skill, and timing. So don't give up if you can't do it your 1st 30 tries (lol). The only jump I've managed to do that made me feel all Solid Snake was when I went on the Tortoise's leg and when he jumped up, I leaped to my left. By the time he was going down I landed on his head. Here's a vid:

I've heard about the squirrel too, I'm pretty sure it's there, though it's hard to remember. They call him PAL the squirrel!
It's annoying about that diagonal jump. I'm NOT going through the game 4 times, especially when hard mode doesn't count, as you have to start a new file. But I wanna see that garden =[
The horse thing is true, as mentioned above. I didn't think it was, there's no message to say you've done it or anything. But you go into the game and it's there.

What's so ICO about it? And what's so great about that tree, other than it being a cool dead old tree? And what's the strange thing on the beach?

As for the "Agro thing" I think you mean changing of colors?
Once you beat NTA a message will appear on how to obtain brown Agro. HTA will tell you about white Agro.

ICO beach is a beach that resembles the one at the end of ICO. They look almost identical. Whether this is a secret or not we don't know.

The big, dead, old tree is just some random creepy tree that none of us know why it's there. It's just so random and creepy. Dark, tall, unreachable, dark clouds behind it, and old. Sends me shivers. I try not to go near it.

I found a chance to go check those things out. That tree is pretty creepy. I never played ICO so I don't know about the beach, but I had a good poke around there.

I tried the jump stab you told me about in another thread too, works like a charm. Never tried it on a colossus though

Riding around those areas, reminds me how much I love the game

Well i had some time to play tonight and yes :
the PAL version has a grey squirrel in the garden.

Also, ive ran trough the game again to get some extra stamina and to be able to climb up there. Ive managed to copy and learn some new tricks along the way.

i can now get some of the shortcuts to work on a regular bases ! For example the jump from agro straight to colossus 4 his tail and i have also managed to jump on the tortoise colossus his leg and straight onto his head. Also about the tree: i had no idea it was there so after i beat dirge, i went back there and took the south exit and then i saw the tree and got to the beach aswell. Its quite nice to find new things (even tho ive had this game for a while i had no idea about it).

Thanks for your help nill. I wish someone would record the PAL ending. Also if you want to try I heard there was an island to the left of the last scenes of the game. When the hawk starts to fly away, just point the camera left. I heard you will see an island, I'll have to test it out.
