I'd prefer it the way it is, it matches the style of game. It's much easier to defeat each colossus sequentially - if you went for anything after the second or third without starting at the start, you'd be lost!
Of course, they could just direct you to the first one with the sword and all, while still having the others there. ------------------- | |

An hour? Are you kidding!?! You have your sword to guide you it's not that hard, especially the first and second. They may as well be right in front of you.
