Boss Battle Discussion |
|
This thread is basically to discuss boss battles and bosses in general. What you would like to see happen and how you think boss battles should happen.
I loved the way you had to fight the boss in the demo, the way you had to climb his fur and scale his entire body just to get to his head. Very cool stuff! I hope it's not essentially the same battle with just a differently shaped boss each time. I would love to see some more creative ways to beat each boss like they approached the boss in the demo. Anyway, what do you guys think about the bosses, and what would you like to see? This message was edited by Mr Man on Nov 03 2005. -------------------

It looks like all battles will be boss battles. I think that's pretty cool. I remember last year there was talk about there being puzzles you have to solve on the bodies of the colossi in order to find the vulnerable spot. I'm looking forward to this game.
I got to play the demo last night. I think it's awesome how they made the horse act like a real horse. Skittish and hard to control fine movements, and when I fell off the temple ledge, the horse had to backtrack to find me. Pretty fine game design. It looks like this one will be worth the wait.

Take a look at the latest video from gamespot, theres a scene with a awesome dragon-looking colossi. They also give a pretty good review of the game.

From what I've read you don't have to worry about the battles getting repetitive. Supposedly each battle is better than the last and with each Collusus there will be a different path and puzzles to get to his weakspot. Each boss has little things that you need to figure out just to climb up, around or under it. So the boss battles should be awesome.

I have the demo for the game, but I was never able to play it. For some reason, the disk would not start up, so I didn't get the chance to face one of the Colossi.
I actually like it better that way, and I have avoided any of the indepth videos, just so I have more to learn and do when experiencing the game for the first time. Dudey is pretty much right on though, these battles will not get repetitive at all. These aren't your run of the mill "Attack, magic, block" battles either, and consist of you actually using your brain to figure out the beast method to defeat each creature. No Colossi has the same weakness, so it takes time finding each spot on their body. Plus, since they are trying to throw you off every second, you need to take your time and plan out each move. I'll let you guys know how it is when I get the game in about 8 hours. ------------------- Bye!!!!! ![]() I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!

just got the real game today
Its really awesome pick yourself up a copy I have defeated the first 5 Colossi. I have to tell you the fifth is really cool but irritating as hell to accomplish. The first one obviously is an easy score if you bought the demo. The second is fairly easy it just takes a while to know what you are doing. The third is a bit tougher but still pretty easy you just gotta be paitient on that one. The fourth is easy as hell. You shouldnt have trouble with that one, but Five is a pain in the ass but fun once it gets going. Thats all I got. POSSIBLE SPOILERS (First Boss)
Anyways, I just got playing through the first boss, and I must say, it is a thrilling experience! When I walked up the ledge and the giant beast strolled across the ground, my jaw nearly dropped. He was gigantic, simply amazing. My first attempt was quite hilarious, as I decided I would run up to it and start shooting arrows randomly. Once I learned his weakness though, and smashed away at his leg, that gave me the ability to climb up his back, resting when need to, and on to the top of his head. Two hits or so was enough to defeat him. I love how the blood squirts out of their body when you strike one of them. ------------------- Bye!!!!! ![]() I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!

*MAYBE SPOILERS* So you figured out what to do pretty quick then, eh? I remember when I played the demo it took me about 20 minutes to figure out what to do. First I held my sword up to see his weaknesses. He had a few weaknesses: one on his head, the other on his leg, and the other on his back. So I busted out my bow and arrow and start trying to shoot him in his weak spots. Yet the only weak spot the bow and arrow actually did damage to was his head (the hardest target to hit). So I was trying to shoot him in his head for about twenty minutes and I maybe hit him 4 or 5 times. So I was like "screw this shit". So I ran up to his leg and kept trying to shoot the back of his leg. I was like "God dangit how do I kill this mother f'er!!". It was then I realized that the back of his leg looked like the vines of the wall I climbed, and I noticed there were lots of platforms on his back. So that's when it hit me... I just had to climb his back, stab him in the head a couple of times and it was over. But then again, I don't feel so stupid because my friend played the demo and he couldn't figure it out either. Anyway, it was fun as hell even though it took 25 minutes just to beat him. This message was edited by Mr Man on Oct 20 2005. -------------------

PROBABLY SPOILERS
Yea it took me forever to figure it out. I couldnt figure out what to do either when I finally got on his leg. I didnt know how to stab at that time so I was on his leg shooting arrows down on it and falling off MORE than occasionally. It was annoying but I finally found out how to do it. Then when I got on his back I just started stabbing his back and didnt even think about his head. After ten minutes stabing at his back and maybe taking an inch off his bar overall, I was like "DUH oh yea the head" then I noticed the shiny symbol on there and I wanted to smack myself. Just wait until you get to the second boss. That one was confusing as hell. The Fifth colossus is a btch and so is the eighth. I am still working on that one now as we speak. ------------------- ![]()

In the demo, once you defeat the colossus some wierd black things come out of the colossus body and kill the character. I was wondering if that happens after every single colossus battle.

Man, the third Colossi was pretty damn tedious, haha. I probably spent about 25 minutes on that thing. I mean, he is impossible to even injure unless he throws his weapon down and gives you the opportunity to climb up it. Thing is, he almost NEVER did that with me. He would always go with the attack where he shoves the huge weapon directly into the ground.
It was funny too, I got completely obbliterated by that thing, landed right on top of me at one point. ;___; ------------------- Bye!!!!! ![]() I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!

I loved the third one, as soon as I saw that big sword I knew exactly what to do, but the reason it took you too long is probably because you were hanging around to close to it so it just stabbed down.
The Fifth boss was the hardest for me so far, he almost killed me 3 times with the swooping attack and I fell off of it 4 times. ------------------- "A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted. So I'm finally done and I would have say my favorite would have to be Colossus 13. I would say why but I don't want to ruin it for anyone.
