Horse Moves

I learned how to start running and when Argo comes up behind me at a trot I can press triangle and then R1 and he will jump and mount the horse while at a run. I do it all the time now.

Not only is the horse a cool new idea in a game, it is implemented very well.

re: Horse Moves

I like standing up on the horse (R1 + Up), it makes using the bow a whole lot easier and jumping off of him becomes a whole lot cooler as well.

re: Horse Moves

I've noticed that it can be extremely difficult to stear Agro. Many times I have him running into walls and rocks, just because his movements are very sensitive, especially at high speeds.

Still, it is really fun to ride him around, and he's very responsive when you call out to him, and knows exactly where to go. Not only that, but, he looks awesome, very realistic.

I don't really do any moves while on the horse, I find them all to be quite pointless. =/ It was funny though, while I was fighting the second Colossi, the one in the canyon, I kept yelling "Move you *bleep*in ass you dumb horse" because he was always standing right in the way. I'd ride him to safety, only to have him follow me back. >.>

You don't even know how many times I was tempted to curse, and throw my controller at the screen whenever he would slow down when you approach a rock, or he suddenly stops just as you're about to shoot an arrow. The damn horse loves to run off by himself, but when it comes to moving with you on him..it's a completely differen't story!

re: Horse Moves

The worst is when your fighting a boss on Agro and you finally get the oppurtunity to do something, and you try to turn around but Agro won't cooperate. When that happens I usually just get off Agro and do it myself.

re: Horse Moves

Later in the game there were a number of times I lined up a shot on a lizard and then Argo stepped right in front of me. I got over it because there were so many other times when our riding and fighting colossi together went so well. Jumping on his back with R1, turning while mounting, and taking off at a run was pretty cool. Seemed just like in the movies.

I found another move. From a standing stop, hit X and down on the joystick and Argo should rear up and then take off in a sprint. I wish I knew about this one before I finished the game.

IGN said by the end of the game you were somewhat "close friends" with the horse. I didn't feel that for him too much. Not nearly as close as how you felt in Ico with Yorda.

re: Horse Moves

*grins* I actually like the horse better than Yorda. Maybe it's just 'cause I'm already a horse person, but I feel a lot less guilty yanking Little Miss Pale around than I do every time I hit "X" while on Argo and the guy kicks him with everything he's got and screams "YAH!" Sheez... if you can train the horse to come running on command, surely you don't have to kick the snot out of him just to get him to go!

Plus... there really isn't any doubt in my mind as to why Argo's so hard to steer, considering the length of the reins on that horse. It's lucky the poor guy doesn't get tangled in them and choke himself(but actually... with the weird dying horse glitch a few have seen, maybe that's what has happened..... XD)!

[/horse rant]

re: Horse Moves

I read somewhere that you can pet Argo. I tried all kinds of button combos while standing next to him. Anyone know how?

Get on the horse, and select the hand icon in the weapon window box, and press circle.

It doesn't really do anything..but..the main character in the game makes weird sounds.

Not only that, but if Agro is already running, hitting that same button combination will bring him to a rapid stop.

Awesome, thanks! Yeah, I actually ran into this by accident last night after posting. I was stopped in a pool of light and I tried to focus the beam with my sword, not knowing that I didn't have my sword out - I was in grip mode. So he pats Argo's neck and makes a grunting noise. Cool.

You can also pat him while standing next to him and pressing Circle too.

Nothing to do with the horse actually but I realized the camera can be moved around and zoomed in/out during cinematics.

re: Horse Moves

Just like metal gear solid... Very good addition to a game i think. Makes the cut scenes feel very real and alive since you can look at different areas or zoom in.
