Game Ending Discussion *MAJOR SPOILERS* |
|
Aight yall, it might just be me, but the ending to this game wasnt all to good. Before the game ends you lose your horse which made me cry for real. Then you turn into a demon, and desperately try to get to your loved one, but get sucked into a vortex. Then your loved one is ressurected, and your horse comes back, which is a little better, but then you have to see your horse deal with the fact that your dead. THEN if this ending couldnt get any worse, they find a baby with HORNS ON IT! Not only was this the saddest ending next to Final Fantasy X in a video game, I dont even think they are making a sequel to tie up the loose ends, plus it just leaves you hanging there going wtf?!

Could he be the first child born with horns? It's possible that he started the curse, and all the children that followed after him are the result. But, how would he be able to reproduce? By the time he's old enough, the woman that took care of him might be dead..unless they make it out alive.

I overlooked most of that, so forgive me if this seems kind of blunt. But the words sequel sort of sparked this, and the loose ends as well..
The ps3 would be a perfect way to get a sequel across. Look at the size and greatness of this game, a ps2 game, take a look at the ps3, over what was it, 34 times as powerful as the ps2? A sequel on that would be larger than life, the only thing that would need to be fixed is a way to finish up the plot, with the colossi beaten..they'd need more bosses..much more. -------------------

I'd love to play as a female character for a change. And to maybe have someone else accompany you through your journey. Seriously, as soon as I saw that there was other people in the game, I started to try to get through the game as fast as I could to see if I'd meet them. One other thing..the man that wears the white robe has a similar cloke that Ico wore, and his hore is oddly white with gray hair. You could almost see the similarirty from Ico and Yorda.

Yea I am Also wondering what was up with the ending. They better have a sequal because that ending just there. But I agree about the female character.
I think the sequal should be like the reverse, where the girl tries to get the main character back. But seriously...they definately left that open for a sequal. I mean...who in the hell ends a game like that?

I was thinking "There better be an alternate ending!". I felt that the end was extremely bittersweet.

ok here is my thoughts on the ending......I think that the main character from this game is from the same village as ICO......I think that is why they put ico in the castle at the beginning of that game....and The thing i would like to know is does shadow of the colossus take place before or after ico?......I love this universe they have created....Ok I also think that the land is not going to be cursed anymore did you see the deer at the end....maybe in a sequel a new warrior will come here to rescue the girl and find that the baby has grown up...or something and that he brings the baby back to the village and thats where ico starts.....because the baby would have grown up some....I love this game universe...what do you guys think about this?

My thoughts, if SotC can indeed be tied in with Ico (be warned that this will contain "major" spoilers for Ico and that I have pretty much made up extra story to make it fit as well):
I believe that Shadow is many many years before Ico. The girl, Moro(?, I missed whether it was an 'n' or 'r' in the ending credits, so maybe it's Mono), raises the baby Wander, and somehow over time, children with horns come to be known as cursed from the Forbidden Land, perhaps because of the shaman-guy and his buddies. Now Ico mentioned that a horned child came about once a generation or so, so taking into account the amount of crypt-things and shadows at the end of Ico, the practice of taking the horned-ones there had been going on for a loong time. I think Moro is the Queen, and she probably started out by taking care of the children and slowly building the giant castle, as the land eventually fills with water and changes to the scenery we see in Ico. The two bridges in the games? In SotC, the pond in the giant cylinder of a room, and then the magical elevator-thing with the cylinder-shaped shaft in Ico? Their similarities are intriguing, no? Over the many many years, Moro slowly became corrupt and/or selfish and/or no longer caring for the horned children because she's forgotten about her past (Wander did say she had a "cursed fate..."). Perhaps there was a time before the crypts where she would take care of the children that were brought to the cursed land...? Now, I don't really know how to explain why Ico himself is different than the other cursed children. It's semi-implied that Wander is Ico, by the "perhaps one day you will redeem yourself for what you've done" bit from Shaman-man-guy (*suddenly realizes she didn't see his name in the credits* As a side-note, does anyone have the foggiest as to why Wander's hair suddenly changed from brownish-red to blue-black after the twelth colossus? I thought that maybe it had something to do with him getting possessed or something, but post-storyline it still isn't explained. (This whole thing has been typed quite quickly while I'm remarkably tired... I'll probably edit it once I'm awake enough to see any errors I've made....) -------------------

I know why his hair changed. If you notice as the game progresses his clothes become tattered and dirty, and I think either:
a. it was because he was slowly turning into the demon or b. because it was getting dirty from battling the colossi And I have never played Ico. What system is it for and is it any good?

If I remember correctly, wasn't it stated by developers that SOTC was NOT a sequel to ICO? If so, I do believe you're theory is incorrect.
ICO was an overlooked PS2 game, it was beautiful, and above all a puzzle-type game, splendidly made, but either way, SOTC and ICO were games to remember. Which reminds me..I still haven't beaten SOTC or played ICO..*rushes to gamefly website*. -------------------

SotC isn't a sequel.
...it's a prequel. -------------------

The games are related, that much is certain. I believe that perhaps this may be a prequel as many have said, not so much related directly to Ico, but hte origin of teh curse.

Its a possibility, the games are certainly similar, and the stories could possibly be merged..*waits for rabid fanboys to start making fanfictions from the start of SOTC to the end of ICO and to explain random things* Yeah..*continues waiting*

They said it has no relation to ICO whatsoever.
A sequel for this game to me is not needed. They should just focus on making another classic game for the PS3.
