 Topic: Alternate Ending (SPOILER)????

At the end of Shadow of the Colossus, many differn't things happen... which lead me to question if there is an alternate ending. 1st- the dude turns into a giant colossus himself which you take control of to smash on the little dudes. I did not kill them and I was wondering if you could!!?? 2nd- you try to avoid the vortex but thats damn near impossible... So my main question is...Can you kill the little guys as a colossus, or do they always get away??? I would greatly appreciate any help I could get because the game was great but I don't understand the ending AT ALL!!! I at least would like to see him get a cool smooch b4 he dies!!
