how do you get past the first stream of the rlly long bubbles

There is a sign that you can turn around. On the sign is a pattern. Immediately to the left of the red bubbles are three tiki men statues. Hit the statues with the action button in the order on the sign (I think it's Right-Left-Middle-Right-Left) and then the bubbles will stop.

After that, there is a little sign you have to hit, and it won't stay down. JUST KEEP HITTING IT! The diver man will be brought down, little by little, and he will stop the bubbles.
