When you level up you can increase "stache." What does it do?

I did not know what it was for when I first played the game. But when I played it again for the second time, I noticed its use.
I've noticed that it gives ya great discounts on certain items when ya have big stache points or something... But I noticed in the brief case that the stache becomes shiner after you increase it. Hope this helps.  Please this check out folks! Mario Superstar Saga | |

^ It has no effect on the appearance of M&L's 'staches, actually. However, they do gain discounts at shops, and get more "Lucky!" hits in battle.
