Blood Omen 2 is supposedly an alternate timeline created by paradoxes in Soul Reaver 2. My question is: WHAT HAPPENED?!?

It's been a while since I've played this and I never completed it but I've checked the Wiki page and it's jogged my memory a bit.
Soul Reaver 2 starts about 30 years before the events of Blood Omen due to Raziel and Kain being thrown through a time portal at the start of the game (and the end of the first Soul Reaver). Then about half way through Moebius sends Raziel to the future through another time portal, now this is as far as I got on my play through but reading further on into the Wiki suggests more time travelling with the ending leading up to the beginning of Legacy of Kain Defiance which I'm pretty sure takes place after the events of the previous games. However upon playing Defiance recently it appears that Kain is in Nosgoth years before he was even born and Raziel is in Nosgoth 500 years later. What I think has confused you is this: quote WikiThe reason for this is as Raziel and Kain are being sent back through time their actions and decisions are creating a different future, a future where Blood Omen 2 can take place as events at the time are changing and each event that changes has a future consequence (i.e, what happens in Blood Omen 2 that didn't originally happen in Nosgoth's history). It's pretty easy to understand if you can get your head around the theory of time travel and paradoxes. EDIT: You may be interested in this that I found, it's a Legacy of Kain timeline taken from Soul Reaver 2's bonus features so it doesn't include the events of Defiance: Click!
