An unfairly disqualified contestant |
|
I am writing from Bulgaria, where a TV channel shows Who Wants To Be a Millionaire? under a different name, because here the big prize is not a million. My participation in the game turned disastrous, for which I was absolutely not to blame. Here is what happened: I was playing for the first cheque, and the answers were the names of four cities. I was almost sure the correct one was "Toledo", but I am a person unwilling to take risks, so I considered giving up. My dilemma was whether to say, "A: Toledo", or to stop. I do not know about other countries, but here in situations like this the host very often asks the contestant's partner in the audience, "What would you advise him/her? Should he/she give up or risk?". But that time he addressed my boyfriend just by saying his name, without asking him that question. My boyfriend was startled and instead of giving advice, without thinking, he suddenly blurted out, "Toledo". Everybody at the studio agreed that there was no attempt at cheating, but, anyway, I was disqualified and lost all the money I had already won, although I was not guilty of anything. I know that according to the rules, a person can sit on the hot-seat only once in his/her life, but I think I deserve the right to play again. How can I get it? Have there ever been other cases like mine, and if so, how has the problem been sorted out? | |
