Well, its not very likely. Nobody bought Interplay when they went bust, IIRC.

So, its officially abandon-ware. No Patches anytime soon. I cant run it on XP, dont know about 2k. But then, it isnt worth running in the first place, really.

Keep smiling, and move onto something a lot more entertaining, such as Birth of the Federation (also AbandonWare, but still supported and maintained through various community sites) or SFC3, or STA2 (provided you get a decent mod for it, such as Fleet Operations.)

New Worlds runs fairly well on XP if you set the compatibility mode of stnw.exe to "Windows 2000".

how do you set the compatibility mode of stnw.exe to "Windows 2000." I have xp and have no clue at all.

Right click on the shortcut, go to properties, then the compatibility tab

I've recently had the urge to play new worlds (i know, i know) but I can't get it to run in either xp or 2000. I know I had run it before in 2000, but that was under different hardware. It installs fine, but returns to the desktop as soon as you hit play to start any mission. Got all the latest drivers etc. Dunno what else to try, any suggestions?

RAM: 1GB
GFX: ATi Radeon 9800XT
HD: 1.12TB
OS: Win XP Pro, XP Pro x64, 2000 Pro

I cant even install on xp Help!!!!!!!!!!
I get some error message saying c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and Microsofy Windows applications. Choose close to terminate the application.

But then it gives me the choice to Close or Ignore, and ignore does nothing.

do you get the runtime error becazuse i need help with that one too

The Athlon 64 and the XP pro x64 are your problem. Only newer software and software that hasn't been developed yet, will work with 64 tech.

Actually, New Worlds does work on AMD 64, but not AMD 64x2. For AMD 64, set the compadibilty mode to Windows NT 4.0. Don't ask why; it just works.

I'm receiving a c++ runtime error. Any suggestions?
I've seen this error wiht other games but have been unable to use the same solution. I think the problem may be with the core duo processors. Any help greatly appreciated.

Is it possible to load star trek new worlds on linux ubuntu?
